These are cemented construction. There is nothing hand made about these (or to be fair even higher priced shoes). But higher priced shoes don't say hand-made because that's disingenuous. Only lower quality shoes will use "hand made" very liberally. These shoes are no better than the stuff you find in Zara. I don't think these are worthy of a drop, let alone the price Massdrop is charging for them.
And don't fool yourself, these could never make it at the "$185" retail price. Massdrop has had better shoes than this (Loake, Allen Edmonds, Carmina, J Fitzpatrick). I'd stick to those when they come back around.

CoffeegrooveYou are absolutely right. Prior to signing in after seeing this on my email, I would guess that the price would lie around 50-80 dollars at most. I was surprised to see the pricetag.

CoffeegrooveHello coffegoorve, my name is Alejandro I am the founder of Caballero Wear. Thank you for comment, it’s great to receive feedback. What an awesome community. Allow me to share a bit about the shoes.
The Albert Style slipper traditionally are all cemented construction. When Prince Albert first created the shoes, his intension was to create a shoe that he could wear at home. Hint the shoemaker did not use another type of construction for that reason.
The slipper upper is usually made out of velvet, we use leather, because the upper is one piece, meaning when we cut the leather, we cut one single piece per shoe there is a lot of material that goes to waste. Unlike a traditional wingtip, the wingtip is made out by a lot of pieces and we can use the best parts of the leather to make the final upper. In simplest terms, the Albert style slipper is not a cheap shoe to make because it needs one complete sheet of leather.
I agree with you, a lot of company’s say they make “hand made footwear”, when in reality they don’t. We are a family own artisan factory located in Bogota, Colombia. All of the shoes we make are created by shoe makers using traditional techniques, from cutting the leather, to stitching, to staining, is all done by hand. We also make the leather soles our selves and use various types of constructions. If you are ever in Colombia, I would love to give you a tour to show you our process.
We only use the best leathers and materials, I can assure you there is no comparison to Zara. As our customers shared in the past, photos don’t do justice. Quality and craftsmanship is our priority.
Albert style slippers that are made of high quality cost $250 and up. Because we are a small family own factory we offer lower prices direct to consumer.
Thank you again for your comment! What a great insight. We believe that our customers feedback is extremely important.
We would love to see you in our shoes. :)
