I'd be more interested if they could manage to link to the right spec sheet on their website. They give you the 80/82/84 spec-sheet instead, and I've not found a frequency response graph elsewhere yet.
Edit: found the actual spec sheet from the D89 listing but there is no real info there either. No frequency graph or S/N info? No thanks.
SeanReid: "You are correct that most of the products currently in Pro Audio are entry to mid level products."
So in your own words words the category is clearly inaccurately named. Seeing as you already have an Audiophile category why not re-name this category more accurately as something like "Recording" or "Home Studio". What you're doing is just plain mis-labelling a category and may actually be misleading people into thinking that the products in "Pro Audio" are actually high-quality recording equipment. They are patently NOT!
The solution is not for me to start or vote in polls; the solution is simply for you to correctly name the category to reflect your demographic and the products being dropped. You're pulling some variation of a bait-and-switch here and I think it's just plain dishonest—and you acknowledge that you know this!
Wow.
OttawandererOttawanderer, if MD teamed up with Shure or Blue to get the SM58 or B100 (totally comparable mics, and definitely pro level) the price would likely be nominally different... or cheaper. I've seen SM58s go 50 per sometimes. I've worked in the audio world for a few years now and if I was working a low budget venue I would have no qualms about putting these in the mic locker. CAD is totally under-rated imo.
A ~$100 microphone is what passes for "Pro Audio" on Massdrop? I am disappoint. The whole category seems filled with mostly budget-rate consumer goods by companies that manufacture "pro-sumer" products at best..
OttawandererThanks for your post! You are correct that most of the products currently in Pro Audio are entry to mid level products. The community is growing and currently this is the area where we see most demand from our users. We would be more than happy to list more sophisticated pro audio gear but unfortunately, we just don't have that demographic on the site currently. If you would like to see more true pro audio gear on the site than I would encourage you to start some voting polls for them and get the word out. If the community wants those products than we would love to source them! Thanks!
