My business partner has told me that if there is one tiny scratch on the wooden box, we are both flying first class to the US on Qantas from Australia to confront the people at CAD. Seriously for this price they can paint the wooden box purple so long as our CAD E100S works as promised. So can the whingers butt out and let this Massdrop happen. Do you have any idea how hard it is to get one of these beauties for the Sound Proof Booth here at Studio54 Down Under? And these guys are will to ship for just over 50 bucks!

walter.m.williamsWhen you receive the mic, can you please report here if it works 'as promised'? Above all: Could you verify the self noise? Everybody here complaining with the scratches do not care about the scratches itself, but want to understand if the mic is refurbished (I should say: defective or simply very low quality mic, according to my personal experience) Thank you in advance!

RobertomIn pristine condition. Sounds good as advertised. I feel badly for anyone who got a lemon, but I wonder how many people complaining about "noise floor" issues are just hearing background noise rather than self-noise and are not testing in dead quiet conditions. This is a very sensitive microphone. A lot of cheap mics are "good" at " isolation" because they aren't especially sensitive. I was apprehensive about this deal because of the complaints and, like a lot of people, was sent here from Mike Delgaudio. My E100S has none of the noise issues he (and apparently some others) experienced. It seems others here also got "as-advertised" mics like me. So far, so good.
refutureGlad your mic is in good condition etc. Still waiting for mine to arrive in the Land of Oz. Will let you know when it does. I think the AKG's i ordered later will arrive first...that's life in a Galaxy Far Far Away.

refutureThank you for sharing... Anyway, I can assure that mine was a VERY noisy microphone. I have sent CAD two audiofiles: CAD E100s and my audiotechnica recorded at the same time, side by side, same signal (me simply saing "test...test") in a dead quiet room. The difference was obvious, infact they replied me to return the defective item. The problem in my case is that they are not refunding me the customs (I live in italy) and shipping costs... They did not even replied to my request of a refund. And since I have seen a lot of other complaints here on massdrop and anywhere over the internet (gearslutz, youtube...) I do not want a substitution, but a refund. In the meantime I've bought an excellent Sennheiser MK8 to replace the defective CAD, and, of course, I've lost about 100 euros (customs and shipping).

RobertomVery sorry to hear about your experience. My sympathies. I have no desire to further patronize CAD after hearing about this kind of customer non-service unless they come out and speak to the issues. Many companies don't realize the long-term damage it does to play the short game when it comes to customer service.
I don't want to leap to any conclusions yet, but whatever a company saves now by being slow or ignoring problems and customer requests, it costs a lot more in the long run not to do it, especially given the ripple effects of social media and online communities. This drop alone is not going to make or break the company, but I have a feeling the buyers' potency as commentators (or ambassadors, if CAD gets its act together) substantially exceeds its raw spending power. Anyway, I hope you'll continue to share news of your interactions (or lack) with the droppers here. Best of luck.
RobertomHi again, my CAD E100S has finally landed in Oz and is hard wired into my Focusrite Scarlett 2i4 (2nd gen) through Mogami Gold Pro Studio xlr cable going down to the iMac 27 using TwistedWave audio edit Studio and is sounding pretty awesome. It doesn't like too much gain that's when noise levels increase, but luckily I have a big booming bass voice that means high noon is usually where the gain sits even with close proximity sessions. The beautiful wooden box is totally unblemished and is a tribute to the craftsmen who make it. This US designed and built mic is just as good as my secret weapon Marshall MXL 35 Gold. Maybe even a little better on my bass bottom end. It's only as big as my iPhone 6 Plus but if it can handle recording a jet it can cope with my hard sell reads as well as my soft sell ones. Thank you Massdrop for delivering a great mic at a stupid price.
