Notice the angle is largely not in front of the mic, but on top of the mic, which I believe is not at all how to use the mic

doctornathanHey Doc! The pop filter is in the correct position for use, but the mic is not. The cardioid design of the mic requires you to position the front face (with the logo and product name) towards the source of the sound.
So basically, instead of positioning it like a hot dog, position it like an ice cream stick. You'll get -way- better sound, though it's not going to help the quietness a lot of us seem to be experiencing.

RykerThanks for the reply. Unfortunately there is not a way I can see to get the pop filter on the mic stand if the microphone is pointed that way. I'll just look for a new stand.

doctornathanI thought I'd take to task at this because I feel you got a product and you deserve to use all of it! So I give you this:

Essentially, I flipped the pop filter connection that fits the flexible arm to the stiff metal slat... thing, like so:

Then I screwed it off the stand some, attached the pop filter to the elongated space, and screwed it back down:

Make sure you have one of the legs centered under the mic, as that seems to be the best way to keep it balanced. Interestingly, the metal slat that attached to the stand in this manner also provides a decent counter ballast to the weight of the mic!

I also apologize for the uneven lighting/mess of a desk - this was a rather rapid development!
Edit: Pictures didn't work right, so I'm trying Imgur!

CrooKGlad I could help! Just be careful if you choose to take the pop filter off at any point, because it's the piece holding tension with the stand now. If you remove the pop filter, the stand can rotate rather freely - I did this accidently and didn't have any negative consequences (I was holding the whole setup suspended over my glass desk) but realizing that it leaves the possibility for the weighty-enough stand to fall on a glass (mine) desk or foot, I thought I should mention it!
