Also getting noise in the background. Running Windows 8.1. Tried plugging in/out, different ports (USB 2 & 3), different encodings, restarting computer. No help. It's moderately bearable, but my blue yeti has no static. It's quite quiet - at max volume, at least 3-4x as quiet as my blue yeti. Not good, but at least it can be amplified by applications decently.
I may be able to provide more info in regards to the quiet issue. I have a fancy audio grade USB cable that I use for my DAC (for my headphones), and that's the same kind of cable this microphone uses. I tested my microphone with that cable, and while the static unfortunately remained, the microphone was MUCH louder - normal volumes, on par with my blue yeti.
The quiet sound issue is definitely in the cable. (EDIT: Never mind, quiet sound is in the mic, rattled it around for a few minutes and it got louder.) The static issue is something else.
Would like to hear more on this - I can buy a premium grade audio cable, fine, though I wish the microphone was more usable with what it came with. That being said, the static is close to unacceptable. Do note that the static is less intrusive if you set the microphone to the highest audio codec available. Still very noticeable though.
UPDATE - NEVER MIND: Just plugged my mic back into the cable it came with. Volume level is similar to what it was when plugged into my audio grade USB cable I just plugged it into. It seems loud enough now. It was not before. The only difference is that I took it out of the shock mount, switched the audio cable held it in my hand for a little while, then put it back in the shock mount. i.e. I just wiggled it around in my hand for two minutes. And it all of a sudden got louder. Sign of great build quality? Ugh.
tl;dr 2 issues: 1) Static. I'm on Windows 8.1. Tried all the tricks. Still static. Not in the cable. 2) Low volume. Started out very low. Plugged in cable firmly on both ends, rattled the microphone around for a couple minutes, volume is now decent, though still around 1/2 as loud as blue yeti. Also not in the cable.
Some audio clips: Very brief review of the microphone, showcasing the quality, volume, and static. http://vocaroo.com/i/s141uj3iWNRf
More tests of the microphone, showcasing a lower-than-maximum audio codec (leading to worse static), and keyboard typing in the background. (Bonus siren near the end as well, coincidentally came in when I said "background noise".) http://vocaroo.com/i/s0zLJVwLNisH
Note the original audio file sounds a tad better than they do after being uploaded on Vocaroo.

FadingfictionAh, interesting. Vocaroo lowers the quality of the original audio file; I'll upload it somewhere else. The static is less noticeable on vocaroo than in the original clip, and may not be noticeable if your audio output isn't crystal clear. The static is definitely there, unfortunately.
