We have been following the feedback posted in the discussion, and we've been working very closely with CAD to understand the issue. CAD is currently testing microphones under the conditions described in user help requests to replicate the challenges consistent with the comments above. CAD will reach out to each customer who has requested help from them with additional information on their findings as soon as they can.
The number of members having abnormal volume or static noise issues is relatively small compared to the size of the group. If you suspect the microphone you received is exhibiting these issues, please feel free to reach out to Massdrop Support at https://www.massdrop.com/support. We will be happy to coordinate help with you and CAD.

I know you're trying to help, Arthur, but this is obviously silly. What conditions? Connected to a Windows 7 computer? lol. They did say that I can send mine in for repair/replacement. Maybe Arthur is right though and we are a small minority of the drop with the issue.

ArthurMI initially decided not to comment here as we were directed to CAD which I have done. I was told to try setting it to 48KHz sample rate and 1 channel mode which did reduce the static noise I was experiencing. However, it's more of a temporary solution as you can still hear it if nothing is being said.
I have tried on three different computers with Windows 7, 8 (and 8.1) and 10 with all showing the same issue. The static shows up on Audicity and Open Broadcaster Software. Does not show up on testing with Skype (although slightly quiet) and Steam. Is it a software issue?
I think there are a reasonable amount people experiencing issues although the severity does vary.
