How does the audio quality of this compare to a Blue Yeti or Audio-Technica ATR2500?

JTCPingasThey have really low gain and the noise floor is kind of shitty. Thats kinda an overview it gets more complicated but don't buy a USB they are worse and XLRs are more worth it. Also just because its XLR doesn't mean that you have to buy an extremely expensive/complicated amp. Pick up a Blue Icicle along with any XLR microphone. and you'll be fine.

AustnInteresting, thanks for that.. I always thought XLRs are more complicated than USB so I have not given them a second thought. If I do pick up a Blue Icicle somewhere in Australia, which few XLRs do you recommend? Are they simple to connect to my PC and setup?

JTCPingasBuy the Blue Yeti. QC of this mic is non existent, and even if you luck on a unit that doesn't have volume or static issues, the Yeti will still sound 10 times as good. I seriously regret joining this drop (two drops ago, and a mic replacement later). I recommended that people skip this mic during the previous drop, but people still bought it. I can see from the comments that the problems we had with this shitty mic still exist.
Do yourself a favour- buy the Yeti.

TestbrahHi, I don't stop by much on MD but I happened to check my notifications recently and saw this. In my opinion the AT2020 is the best XLR for beginners on the market. Any Audio Technica microphone is great as well as any MXL microphone. If I had to suggest 3 it would be Audio Technica AT2020/2035 and MXL 990. They are extremely simple to set it up. All you have to do is buy a Microphone stand and XLR cable if it isn't included. Simply put one end of the XLR cable into microphone and then connect the other end of the XLR microphone to the Blue Icicle and then connect the USB cable into your computer.

JTCPingasConfirming what the last guy said. All condensor microphones require 48V of phantom power to gain correct sensitivity. Getting that power from a 5W USB port is like trying to push a whale through a sewer pipe and results in rather noisy, low quality audio regardless of the quality of the Microphone itself, unless it has an outboard power connector.

Should I exchange the PC38X for better headphones?
I bought the PC38X headphones FOR GAMING and they are great, but I have NO use for a Microphone since I don't do competitive gaming and I was wondering if there were better headphone options at a similar price without a headphone, where (presumably) more of the cost was put into making it sound better. I also find that my PC38X don't get quite as loud as I would like and I was wondering if a cheap amp like the iFi Go link would draw a little more volume out of my phones. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BN6MM822?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details I went with the PC38X since it was considered the best bang for buck headphones. Looking for a gaming/content audio setup
Hello! I'm looking for recommendations on audio setups. I'd be planning on using it mostly for gaming. Preferably I'd like a pair of large closed back headphones since I have a big head and jaw. I'd also like to hear myself through my mic with mic monitoring. As far as budget goes, I don't really have one. But under 600$ would be nice. I can go higher if needed. The audio setup would be connected to a high performance PC. Thank you in advance for any recommendations!

$10 Drop Coupon Email not sent?
Trying to buy some gear off Drop for the first time. I was told I would receive an email with a welcome to drop $10 off promo. I never received that email. Drop was able to send me emails for my login token and email for Password update. But for some reason the $10 off coupon was never sent to me.

Hello, I just joined, primarily for the audiophile products. Looking at purchasing the NHT C3 speakers for our new living room. Space is about 15 feet wide by 33 long and they will fire long ways. Space is just for general listening, music room with all equipment is downstairs, so hoping they will fill it with sound nicely. Cheers.
