This is an amazing awesome lens for sports photography at its price and all around lens. I used the 100-400mm with a 7D Markii and can produce great images. Also with a crop sensor camera as the 7D Markii your focal length is plus 1.6x giving you even greater reach.

Canon 7D Mark ii w/Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 IS II USM

It's a good deal, but lately I am questioning my investment in Canon FF gear. M43 and Fuji APSC cameras are looking better all the time.

I have this lens too and it is quite heavy but offers a huge zoom range. Focusing is okay as long as you are not focusing from a near object to a far object; in those cases the the system will hunt forever. The optical quality and build quality is very good. On an EOS 5D Mark IV body, you'll probably want to use the BG-E20 grip to handle the weight of the lens when not using a tripod/ monopod.

This isn't a good deal, this is about the street price, even less at some places with free shipping and no tax.

Full Disclosure Update: MassDrop has reimbursed me for my lens repair where Canon did not honor the MassDrop receipt. I'm very appreciative of MassDrop for covering the cost of the repair, but THIS IS NOT A CANON WARRANTY. This repair is covered by a Canon 6 month warranty, but if another issue arises with this lens during the 1 yr original "warranty" period, I'll have to go through this whole thing again. I am being told MassDrop is still working on getting an invoice from the distributor, but not holding my breath on that, or on the distributor being an actual Authorized Canon Dealer. So, thank you to MassDrop for covering my cost, but I think honesty in advertising is still important, and it is not clear whether these lenses are actually covered by Canon Warranty.

I paid considerably more for this lens. In combination with my 7D2 and 1.4x TC, it is a killer combination for wildlife photography. I have a Canon 500/f4 which now remains at home a good deal of the time in favor of this lens.

Depends on your body. Works fine with 7d2 and 1.4x

You just need to make sure that whichever body you have, that at least the center autofocus point is f8 compatible. The older pro bodies have this: 1 DX, the 5D Mk III, for sure. And now the 5D Mk IV, the 7D Mk II, 1 DX Mk II, and the 6D Mk II. And the higher priced the body, the more autofocus points are f8 compatible/enabled...

Great lens and solid. Very good image quality and you get used to the weight, which isn't bad if you think about all the lenses it covers!

I couldn't resist and got one too... The price of this lens is the same as an used lens here in Canada.

@JaySCT
To make matters more confusing, Jaysun has now committed in the post I am linking below to include an authorized dealer receipt "if it is necessary" for a valid USA warranty. This is vague language, but it seems that he has committed to including the receipts in future USA warranty drops. Otherwise, this is now definitely becoming fraud. I share JaySCT's skepticism that they will actually provide the receipts, as the dealer will soon be reported by someone and stop doing these drops. Nevertheless, I am curiously watching to see what happens next. This has been entertaining to watch, although I would be more frustrated if I had actually bought one of these USA warranty drops.

They are now saying the lens has a US warranty. If these are indeed gray market then the price goes from being decently competitive with discount retailers to being about $500 higher than gray market outlets. I personally don’t have the guts to go gray market at this price point.

The Bokeh is great and this being an l lens the glass is amazing always loved its and it has image stabalization which means i can carry it hand held with no tripod or mono pod the aperture is fine for me but it could be bigger i like this on my 6d mk 2 just so i can have it a bit wider than a cropped sensor still recommended on a tripod with creamy turns but still get it
