SutoJLA normal warranty? If you skim around, you'll notice that the camera products on Massdrop are international versions, unless listed otherwise, and NOT US versions. For camera gears this CAN matter as some manufacturers will NOT FIX international gear and may require you to send it back to where it was "purchased," most likely Japan to use you warranty for said repairs.
That as you can imagine can cost money for a repair that may ultimately be free if you purchased from the US.

lastzeroI agree with you on the international spec (and MOST of their lenses are), but this one specifically lists it as the direct USA model and it includes manufacturer warranty. Might want to read the specs before making assumptions :)

lastzero@lastzero If only the warranty was good, then you'd buy it? Then you should buy it. This is the best manufacturer's warranty you're going to find in the US.
@Ajhall94 already correctly pointed out that this has a normal, full 1-yr limited USA warranty, but since we can't thumbs down falsehoods I wanted to confirm.

CurbySee mine and other comments regarding Massdrop policy. Please call Canon and ask Massdrop specifically if you will receive the receipt from the authorized dealer. You will get all types of answers other than a direct yes or no. Bottom line from Canon.. without the original receipt from the authorized dealer, this purchase will be considered used or gray market by Canon. It is that simple.. No dealer receipt, no warranty..

Ajhall94Ajhall94.. There will absolutely be a lens with a USA warranty card in the box. Without the receipt from the Canon authorized dealer however, that warranty card means nothing. This is Massdrop's way of making people think that Canon is going to warranty this purchase. Without the receipt they will not. Please call Canon if you need further confirmation. If I am wrong, then I would love to ) see Massdrop say that they are providing (with the delivery) the receipt from the Authorized Canon dealer this comes from.

lastzeroLastzero.. We're only putting these warnings out to save people issues later (should there be a need to send the lens into Sigma, Canon, Nikon, etc.. You can register the lens and serial #, even "fake" that you bought it from an authorized dealer.. When (or if) the time comes to send it in, without that Authorized Dealer receipt, you won't get very far. It's really that simple..

JaySCTIs the receipt unique to Canon authorized dealers, e.g. there's a specific logo, or is it more of the address + company that determine if it is authorized dealer?

lastzeroCanon knows who their authorized dealers are (or aren't).. Please do yourself a favor and call Canon USA to verify. The warranty card alone means nothing with that receipt from an authorized dealer.
