The only thing lacking on this baby is VC .... although it may not be as important a feature for most people ... how important is this at 70mm ??? I am seriously considering waiting for the highly anticipated TAMRON SD 24-70MM F/2.8 DiVC USD G2 lens (Model A032). Has VC control as well as many of the fine features of the Canon lens. Available soon (Sept) at around $1200 ... maybe one to consider ... reviews so far give it high marks

farmacystI don't think stabilization is super important at this focal length, but it can be helpful in low-light with static subject matter. The new Tamron will hopefully overcome the issues of the previous model, with the added advantage of fine tuning via their USB hub. I can say though that my Canon 24-70/2.8L II is flawless across 3 bodies, 70D, 6D and 5DS R. Never needed to use my Reikan FoCal for it, which I can't say about many other lenses. It's worth checking out LensRental's teardown video regarding this lens and its consistency.
