1) I've read that it's better to get this one IF you want a pancake lens for a Canon DSLR than the 28mm. I've got the 28mm STM 2.8, and it's OK, but the focusing is notoriously loud -- enough to NOT be able to rely upon the lens for video. Most folks recommend the 40mm as well because it's a better walking around prime than the 28mm.
2) Both KEH and Amazon are selling the US spec version of this lens right now for $179. $150 isn't a bad deal if you don't care about warranty, but be mindful of the cost of shipping throwing this into "maybe I should get the one with the warranty overnight from Amazon" realm.
