Canon's original EF 70-200 f/2.8L is a universally praised lens that impressed amateurs and professionals alike. The upgraded IS II offers a notable improvement in the areas of speed, performance, and optical quality over its predecessor Read More
I requested this drop 2 months ago and since then :
Bought a Canon 6D Mark ii
Ordered a pair of Dynaudio LYD 7 studio monitors
Ordered an Audeze LCD-2 headphone
Ordered an Audio-gd R28 headphone amp
Bought an Audio-gd R2r-11 headphone amp
Took my family for a 2 week vacation in South East Asia
Talk about bad timing... hope I can catch this the next round!
The grey market has numerous sites in the mid $1,500s " The product offered in this drop will not have a Canon Warranty included. " This is no deal. We vote on the having this Lens and Massdrop does not deliver the complete package. What a shame because Massdrop is a great concept overall.
I have both the original IS lens and the IS II. Bought them new in the box no US warranty. Never needed it. These lenses are super reliable as are most Canon L grade lenses. The IS II is worth the upgrade.
Like many other have stated (including myself), if you're willing to risk NOT having Canon USA warranty support for this lens (regardless of any claims made here on Massdrop - and see one user's experience below) then as a buyer you can choose to make the purchase here. Do not be misled though. WITHOUT A RECEIPT FROM AN AUTHORIZED CANON USA DEALER, that card is absolutely meaningless.. Call Canon USA and ask... PLEASE do yourself a favor and be an educated consumer.
I agree with you 100% about Massdrop's dishonesty. I have also purchased used gear from B&H & Adorama (also KEH) and in each case it was better than described & they offer a 90 day warranty which is enough time in most circumstances to determine if you got a good one or a lemon.
MassDrop continues to misrepresent the warranty provided with purchase of Canon lenses. I'm speaking from experience. I had to send my Massdrop purchased lens in for warranty repair and Canon would not recognize the Massdrop receipt. Canon will only accept receipts from Canon authorized dealers. Massdrop DID step up and reimburse me for my repair, but I STILL do not have a Canon Authorized Dealer receipt, despite assurances I would receive one. So, purchase at your own risk if you need a warranty repair.
