Same price refurbished from Canon with a warranty. I'd rather take those chances than no warranty on a white box.

17-40L get a little vignettish doesn't it? I was under the impression the 16-35L was the better short zoom. I'd second the 24-105. 24mm is plenty wide for most cases where you want a wider shot. 105mm is just tele enough without being so long you have problems with handheld shots. And the color, contrast and sharpness is great. Downside is that it's a pretty beefy lens to haul around.

marenlcCrop or full frame? Full frame I would get the EF 24 - 105L. Older model used like new should be found less then $500. Wonderful lens.
Crop, EF-S 15 - 85 F/3.5 used like new under $380.
If you need a tank and don‘t mind moving a little EF 17 - 40L for crop or full frame. You can find it under $400 used like new. A favorite.
Fast lens for indoor no flash is prime only. 2.8 zooms are heavy and expensive. The newer stm primes offer a great image at a great price for low light but the 50mm EF 1.4 USM is a classic. It’s like a walk back through time shooting indoor no flash.
