By grey market, do you just mean that they are still new/unused and coming directly from canon, but just intended to be distributed for non-US customers? If that's the case then this is a great deal as I've been researching this camera and the cheapest I could find for body only is around $570.
It’s a good camera. I have it with the EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS STM as a lightweight birding kit. This is a gray-market import, so be aware warranty coverage may be limited.
It's an okay price on a decent starter camera.
For once the MD 'retail price' listed is accurate.
However it's not a good time to start investing in DSLR lenses. Canon will most likely be abandoning that whole EF EF-S line in the near future. And there are many, many very good mirrorless options out there.
That said, there aren't a ton of affordable mirrorless cameras unless you go micro four thirds. Even the cheaper Fuji and Sony APSC mirrorless are a bit more than this.
Though you might find a deal on a used Fuji X-T2 or XT-1.
