I'm not one to gripe but this is available from a number of reputable retailers for significantly less. Body is 399 at B&H, Fry's, etc. This is not a deal and given the amount of markup on photo equipment, I'm pretty sure there is a large amount that could be shed to drop this below regular retail prices.

digitalparadigmsearching B&H and Fry's does not appear to list the T5i Body for anywhere close to $399. Both list the body only at $649, the same as Amazon.com and others. Is there any source for the T5i body at $399?

danny81299There is no source. I've spent several days looking for a better price. As far as I can tell @digitalparadigm was looking at the t5 not the t5i.

danny81299He might be referring to T5, or some past deal on refurbs.

digitalparadigmCamera gear is probably second worst in margins to consoles, computer hardware, and memory. If you look up Nikon or Canon's quarterly earnings and run the numbers they are around 6-7% at the end of the day. What this means for dealers is they rarely drop prices and with such small margins. Like anything online if people are selling at MSRP or MAP price there is a good way to come down but Massdrop is already below MAP by about $230. This is a great deal.

digitalparadigmA lot of the cheaper vendors are selling an Asia-spec body, not a US-spec. I looked recently at Daxmart who priced theirs at $339. I later found out it was not US-spec, and did not include battery, charger or manual. Warranty was also different.
Be careful about your comparisons.
