I also have an older pen by Caran d'Ache and it's time to add another. This is the closest quality to any of the French made S.T. Dupont $1K pens, but made in Switzerland. Hands down better than Pelican and a couple of cuts above the top-of-the-line of anything in the Mont Blanc collection .
I think that MD is not advertising this offering as well as it does others! I can guarantee you that the price is right and the selection is ample. Why this offering is stumbling? Beats me....!
