Sennheiser PC37X randomly goes bad after disconnecting the cable ?
Greetings, Yesterday I was using my headset like normal with my macbook, just listening to music and on a call with people like usual, and the headset was perfectly fine. The stock wire that came with the headset is extremely long and yesterday it annoyed me very much that it kept getting tangled with itself, so I decided to see if the cable is replaceable. I pulled out the cable from the headset and saw the adapter, and looked online for a replacement. Upon plugging it back in, the audio sounded extremely muffled and washed out. Im not sure what I did wrong to make it mess up like that as I've always taken good care of it, ive had it for about 2 years and its always just been chilling on my desk, but anywho I thought the cable just went bad and ordered a replacement. The replacement came, and the issue is still persistant, so I am not sure what the issue is I've tried multiple different headsets and the issue is not with the port, and I also tried it with my windows laptop and...

Assuming that was actually the, doesn't it stand to reason the manufacturers would just include a better cable to begin with? And that that cable (owing to the economics of scale) could be built and sold for much, much less than two-hundred dollars? So what manufacture would give up the opportunity to offer a better sounding headphone (read: sell more headphones) at the marginal extra cost of a better cable?

Totally agree with you.
What I disagree with is that, if people have enough money to spend that much money on a cable, let them do so.
Yes, according to me, it is stupid but they earned their money and I don't really care about changing their mind.
Maybe if I wasn't a (relatively) restricted budget student that relies on Christmas to buy headphones, I'd look into after market cables as I said earlier I still find it stupid since you can find decent cables for 20$ all over internet...
Yes it is awfully overpriced but as long as they don't waste my money on this I don't really have anything to say!
PS: RayF has left the building ;- )

I am pretty sure 6 pairs of this cable you linked would last just as long as one par of Cardas.
Still doesn't explain me how an audio cable can change the sound, I don't even think most of these high-priced cable company advertise a better sound quality....
What technology your cables uses that allows a better sound ? Because I'll be the first to try it.
