I am hoping this will be a good knife as a gift to a fly fisherman. I'm thinking the flat blade would be conducive to cutting hairs and feathers.

tyler555As a fly tier, this knife probably doesn't have any practical application when tying flies. We use scissors for almost all cutting, with the occasional Xacto blade or small box cutter for certain things. The only thing I could see using this knife for in tying is if your buddy is also a bird hunter, he might need a blade for removing hackle capes and the like from the birds he's shot. That being said, these Case+Orvis knives are gorgeous. If your buddy is at all into the heritage or traditional side of fly fishing, or just quality Americana pieces/brands, he'll definitely appreciate this knife.
