Ok. Hi. I'll just start by saying that I don't really know much about this stuff and that I need some advice. I cant really find good reviews about these products on YouTube because I don't really know who to trust because I doubt they have my taste or problems.
But here's my situation guys. I'm using sennheiser hd598. I love these headphones. Like a lot, they sound fuckjng awesome to me. But about 8 months or so ago I got a nexus 5x and that phone's sound card is a piece of garbage and can't give my senneis enough power. For real full volume feels like 60%. I can't do that on the train anymore it's annoying.
So I was wondering what amp/dac I should get. Any advice would be much appreciated, even if barely relevant because like I said I don't know shit. I need power, but I dont want to sacrifice good sound quality. This cayin seems ok because of its huge built in battery and going price, but any article the internet doesn't mentioning it and just rides the fiiO brand.

SuperSaviorHi... I bought the Nexus 5x and had the same problem. I bought a USB-C OTG cable and a Fiio K1. Low power draw, solid DAC with a great price to match. However, the Fiio K1 isn't going to drive 50 Ohms (the impedance of your Senniheisers) super well. Instead of full volume/60% like you describe, it will be full volume/full volume. If you want more power and portability, I would suggest the Audioquest Dragonfly Black (or Red).

SuperSaviorI got a small USB DAC/AMP for portability purposes. The set up I described wasn't cumbersome at all (it essentially functioned like a longer cord). Some of the larger AMPs aren't very portable. I don't want to strap something like the Cayin to my phone. The big monsters are about power. Do you need the power to drive your HD 598s (thus a more proper AMP with a bigger profile)? Or can you get away with something like the K1 or dragonflies and keep the package small. I think @ 50 Ohms, you can, so I personally wouldn't add the bulk. It's up to you.
