CHICKENGODI really hate when cheap watchmakers do this. It's just a cheap trick to make something look like it's a good value. No one has ever paid $580 for this watch, nor, I bet, has anyone even tried to sell it for that much. Invicta and Stuhrling Original used to do it all the time on Amazon, but it looks like Amazon cracked down on them.

cfenI've looked around seems around $200-250 is what they're being sold for , $580 is completely ridiculous, i'd be surprised if anyone falls for it... but you never know ;)

cfenThe term for those brands that do this is "mushroom brands", Invicta was kind of the OG of this practice. Aimed at people with only a cursory knowledge of watches who think they're getting a good deal (and apparently don't know how to Google)
It's sad to see massdrop going down this route. This is a place for watch enthusiasts, stop trying to sell us like the everyday Joe idiot. The last 5 drops I've gotten emailed about are enough to make me want to leave massdrop for good, things are going south boys.

smallbitIt's not a brand your average Russian collector cares about and I'm no different. Vostok movements in ugly case designs, not really my cup of tea. Supposedly they're better quality than Russian Vostok because of their quality control, but I never found one I liked enough to find out.
In terms of quality they are high quality from what I understand, though.

cmbezlnThank you very much. I recently bought the vostok europe drop and this watch has me all nervous about the russian builds. But I did see the videos of vostok europe being handmade in lithuania so I went ahead with it, will post if it's any good. Thank again man! :D

smallbitNo prob. As far as I know, they don't make any movements, they just get vostok movements from the chistopol factory and quality check them and case them. The types of movements they use are already some of the better vostok movements so adding a good QC process to the mix will yield a good quality watch.
Maybe they rebuild them in some cases? Not too sure

cmbezlnAs an owner of around a dozen Vostok Europe you have nothing to worry about concerning quality, these are very very good watches

Chris723Yeah the white and gold one. Looked too pretty to pass up especially knowing that there is so much quality control involved with vostok europe. Seems neat. We will see :)
