totally reasonably priced. i wouldn't be caught dead with a sub $40 bead on my $2500 custom knife. ;)

Ok that makes sense. For me I don't think my EDC would benefit and might be a hindrance given that where a lanyard would attach would be the same part I use for striking/pain compliance.

I work in a knife shop, so I know all about it. The stuff you're referring to are usually turned on a lathe and don't have features like this bead does, which has been cast, allowing for the cross image. The image is also very clean, unlike cheap foreign made beads that are usually stamped or pressed.

I get you put a lot of work in to it and I'm not saying your time isn't valuable my question is what value does it add to my EDC? ie: what function does it serve?

Russia stuff has to do with the exchange rate. We sell Russian knives that are fantastic, yet there really cheap compared to other similar items. It's cuz the exchange rate works extremely well in our favor. Those are nice beads though. I'm sure peterson can lower the price as soon as he begins to cast in house. However the price he has now on single produced, non mass manufactured beads is good.

At first I thought it was a bundle of a few beads, then the price may be justified. Oh well... If you're really into bead, head to Evilbay. In this case, Chinese made goods are wayyyy better. You'll get titanium bead for the same price. Edit: Some Russians make beautiful beads as well, for half the price...
Gentlemen, your comments about price are noted, but I assure you that the price here is a good one considering what the beads cost me in time, materials, etc. Not everyone is into beads, tops, etc. and that's fine. I'm sure many of you spend money on things that I wouldn't. To each their own. Have a good day.

ROFLMFAO $60+ for beads, that's what a normal family will spend on groceries for a week!

If you guys think this is expensive, then you haven't seen the wonderful world of lanyard beads and aftermarket products. I've seen plain titanium beads sell for anything from $80-180. So $40 for an individually made, hand finished bead is pretty cheap.

K-ozDragonBut... Why? I've carried for years, trained with folders and fixed and I've yet to have a situation where I thought and beads and lanyards would help the functionality...

KiltmanFlIt's just a way to personalize your knife. I've seen many impressive lanyards. Beyond that, it makes the knife harder to lose. You can easily visually inspect if the knife is secured in pocket, plus it makes it less likely to get lost (just like attaching a lanyard to your keys). Also if drop the knife, it can be easily spotted if it is dropped, especially outdoor knives with bright lanyards. I always attach a lanyard to my knives with no clip because it makes the knife more manageable and harder to lose. However I'd say that more than anything it's the aesthetic value; and why not? My knife goes everywhere with me every day, so why not dress it up? It's a chance to personalize your own knife the way you want. As such, it's not for everyone, and not all lanyards are as lavish as others. It's an obvious expression of the owner.

This is not a maltese cross, it's an "iron cross". Look both up before you carry this symbol.

Maybe I'm missing something... $48 for a brass bead? Can someone please explain the value / utility to justify the cost?

KiltmanFlThis is a great way to improve your EDC item. It adds another $50 of worth when your item gets lost or stolen.
