EnglishRaisedThey are both chinese made knockoffs of the ThermoWorks products so they are probably equally "ok". If you want GOOD go with a ThermoWorks. You'll pay more but you'll get greater accuracy, quality and faster reads.

EnglishRaisedThe Lavatools uses a thermistor to measure temperature, which in theory is not as fast/accurate as a thermocouple used in this (and the industry standard Thermoworks Thermapen). This is also one of the few models to use a AAA battery, which lasts a lot longer and is much easier to replace than coin batteries.
