@CEntranceAmong other products sold at MD, Centrance team is the only one that I can see are showing their presence and actively answer questions.
Really appreciate it!
Is there a plan to drop other products in the future?
I would be interested if you can make the mobile version of DacPort.
I know there is already one but that is expensive. I will be interested to see a new project to make mobile version of Dacport Slim(which then will not be slim anymore) that allows using a few rechargeable AA batteries to operate.

ridhuankimThanks for the good words. Our DACportable is very much like DACport HD with a rechargeable battery. It normally retails for $399. What would be a fair price on MD you think?

CEntranceIn all honesty I've done some reading up on this particular product. I would put this product under two categories in pricing on mass drop. Fair pricing for this product I believe would be $250. As Massdrop exclusive. But if you wanted to do something crazy that would be priced to move and probably move more units 199 massdrop exclusive. You probably will get a little bit more foot traffic from the 199 versus the 250. But the 250 would be more in line with the correct pricing structure based upon massdrop metrics

Stunt199 would be VERY attractive... especially to those who already have the slim or HD! Because they already know how it sounds.

CEntranceIt would be nice if AA batteries can be used so we can swap out batteries while travelling. And if the unit can also recharge the AA batteries it would be awesome.
I had invested in portable devices which has integrated batteries(for example the bt headphones or iems, DAP and etc) and they die after just few years.
Some die after a year and some last 2 to 3 years. Even when they work after 3 years the battery life is significantly reduced.
I want my devices to last for my enjoyment.
That is why DacPort slim is one of my favorite. It does not have battery in it and it still works perfectly as when I bought it.
It sill sounds better than other DAPs I have which are several times more expensive.
I understand DACPortable is there but I am worried my 400 dollars in just few years will vanish. Not specific to DACPortable but all permanent battery operated devices.
Another way is to allow using non-AA batteries but much like FIIO E10 where you use commonly available lipo batteries so you can awap them when the battery dies. (User can also carry a few batteries when travelling).
The battery can be bought easilly off ebay.
Does DACPortable allow swapping batteries? If so, what is the model and price on ebay?

ridhuankimYeah that would definitely be nice I ended up having to go with another product instead of the dacport slim HD. I needed something that was portable. But also something I can be battery powered as well. So I went with the IFI Nano Black Label. I really want this Centrance the one with the rechargeable battery. Hopefully it has a bass boost.

StuntI bought FIIO Q5 to get rid of the wire clutter and IFI nano black was not released then. Although I like the features of FIIO Q5, especially the bluetooth connectivity, I dont get the audio like Centrance DacPort. And again, I dont think the battery on FIIO Q5 will live for several years unless I find a way to replace it.
My SamSung Galaxy Note 3 still works fine because it allows replaceable battery.
Bose Q25 still works because I can change batteries. Bose Q35 does not allow this and it will die over time.
If it wasnt for the non-replaceable batteries I would be enjoying all my devices for more than 10 years.
Its funny when all the mobile and portable devices show trend of finding reasons to justify using non-replaceable batteries while DSLR Cameras didnt follow that trend.
My Nikon DSLR still works like when I purchased it. I even added a battery pack so I can carry and use it for days.
DacPortable looks good but the form factor(would have been better if it was flatter, not taller) and non-replaceable battery was my deal breaker.
I was too fed up with cables so FIIO Q5 BT connectivity for transport and Q5 internal DAC processing was attractive enough to buy one.
If Massdrop x Centrance collaboration for DacPortable Slim would have the following features, it would be great.
1. Flatter form factor. 2. Replaceable battery
Optionally, 1. extended battery pack(for real portability) 2.BT connectivity(only for transport, do not use BT DAC)
For example, If this supports the above 2 optional features, I can connect the device to 20000mah Power Bank and make Centrance Portable Music Station. If I am flying for 8 hours or *more*, this music station will keep me occupied.

ridhuankimNo it is also a DAC check out the mass drop page it's an amp DAC. I thought the same thing when I looked at it. But it's actually not only amplifier but a DAC is well read the specifications. It's actually the $400 version. Which is an amp DAC combo. Looks like today is your lucky day buddy. You now have 5 hours left.

ridhuankimOh man that sucks. Massdrop should fix the labeling on that because they have it stated as a DAC amp on the website.

StuntIf Pico can bring down the $399 down that much, I am sure Centrance can do the same. :)
I love my XduooX10 DAP, which is also using AK4490 chip like Centrance Dacport.
Unfortunately it does not hold charge anymore. It charges full but as soon as I unplug it, it would show only 3 out of 4 bars. Then when I walk to office for about 20 minutes it would show only 1 bar in red colour.
This is what happens to all non-replaceable battery devices.
Money wasted.
The manufacturer only thinks about hiw to make money and will be happy if the battery powered devices no longer work, assuming the consumer will buy from them again.
But, sorry XDuoo, it doesnt work that way. I am not buying it again.
I would rather spend my hard earned money where it will last.
For my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 use case... it still works fine because I installed new battery but it does not mean I will be using it. right?
Because we do want to explore new things and eventually they will not be fast enough so it will be collecting dust.
But that gave me good impression enough that I am buying more Samsung products.
Same like how the manufacturers are getting rid of 3.5mm jacks and forcing people to buy BT IEM and Headphones which will last only few years.
My Audio Technica ANC7b using 2 x AAA batteries still rocks like new. The plastic frame is breaking apart but it still works.
I really hope the manufacturers will start thinking of their customers again. We will eventually buy more products but that should not be because the batteries died.
Sigh....
