CEntrance seems to be responding to most questions except those pertaining to comparisons with the ODAC.... Any clarifications there?

louislohWhile they are answering most questions, I do wish there was a better review out. No reviewer info on how they drive power-hungry headphones... the HE1000 the reviewer mentioned only has 35 ohms impedance (!). The K7XX (that thousands here on Massdrop have by now), Sennheiser HD600/650, and Beyerdynamic T90 are still "unknowns" at this point. If they would answer my email and let me be a reviewer for the Slim, I could easily answer your question about the ODAC. Sorry mate :(
I honestly think this could be the next Massdrop K7XX, if only there weren't dodgy specs regarding the output and unclear reviews... forget me for a second, I don't think people are willing to commit to something new that people can't confirm how it sounds, or pairs with other headphones. I myself would buy this, but I have no idea how it would pair with my K7XX and T90 x(

louislohWe believe it's up to the reviewer and customer community to make comparisons with other products. It may come across as unfair if we make the comparison ourselves, especially in our favor. But on the specs alone, it's not a contest. Better dynamic range, lower noise, higher output level, higher maximum sampling frequency... DACport Slim is much better.

avitron142Avi, thank you for your request. More reviews are coming and you will be included.
We have tested this with lots of headphones, including K7XX HD600/650,, 880, T1 T90 and others. No issues with drive and power. This is a monster. The output of DACport Slim is very similar to that of DACport Classis. You can see how well that older product reviewed on our website. This one will have the same output drive capability.

avitron142The peak voltage isn't all that much higher than an E10k (which will matter more than current for high impedance headphones); whether it delivers it more or less evenly over different loads remains to be seen. I suppose it depends just how loud you want to listen, and the dynamic range of the music you actually are listening to. More powerful amps like the E09k will probably give ~5dB more headroom for transient peaks. It may be worth buying just as an implementation of this DAC chip though.. As you said, would be nice to see a review!

CEntranceSounds great! I'm itching to get this, but I'll wait until we can catch up on reviewer opportunities :) I'm glad to see that you're making every effort to satisfy customers here. People for some reason do feel better with a third party perspective though.
Like I've said, with a solid review or two, this could easily be the next big Massdrop thing. The K7XX sold thousands... I see no reason why this can't do the same. If this does pair as well as said with both over-ear headphones and IEM's, this can demolish the market entirely for "budget-fi" Dac/Amp combos. I mean, the only "budget" powerful solution I've heard of until now was the Geek Out 720/1000, and even then that was $300. And I've heard that the DACport Slim is better than the GO by a good margin too...
