I would love to hear how the Slim compares to the HD in real-world use, not just on paper. Unfortunately it seems like nobody has both ATM. Either way, loving my Slim so far. How come it works with my just my phone's cable though, and not another USB to micro USB cable I have which I use for charging from a battery pack? Could it be that they are different USB-versions? I honestly have no idea now.

KheosSome charging cables only have two wires inside -- power and ground. Those cables won't work. The data cables have 4 wires -- they add two data wires in addition to the two power wires. Those should work. Unfortunately it's not easy to tell which cable you have, because they are rarely labeled. So if it works with the Slim, it's a data cable, not a charging cable.
