Alright alright alright. My computer is refusing to recognize the device. Windows is telling me "USB Device Not Recognized" and CEntrance Driver Control Panel is showing "No compatible units connected".
I am running Window 7 Enterprise 64-bit system. I have tried installing the universal driver with and without the unit plugged in. Updating the driver (7.4.18) with and without the unit plugged in. Plugging the provided USB cable into different outlets. Restarting the laptop. Jumping in a circles on one leg while patting my head and rubbing my stomach. Nothing. I am not getting sound from any media.
Any assistance is appreciated.
UPDATE: It also seems to be minor issues switching back to my old FiiO E7 with the CE Drivers installed. There are no issues once uninstalled.

LxJLthrJust seems like you need to update the firmware, just borrow somebody else's system. Only takes a couple of minutes to do.

VortexSTSorry can you elaborate...or just tell me if I need to dig though comments if this was covered already (don't care to read through 49 pages right now)....
What do you mean use another computer to update the firmware? Which firmware? DAC, operating system, codec, etc? And how would results with a different computer be any different?

LxJLthrHey there, so the firmware update is a one-time update to the DAC, it modifies the internal software of the dacport slim itself, which fixes some general incompatibility issues. After you install this firmware update, it will stay updated no matter what computer you plug the DAC into. The firmware update is different and separate from the universal driver, you need both. The difference is that the universal driver installs itself on the computer, the firmware installs its of on the DACport Slim.
This update can be done from any computer that correctly recognizes the Slim: for example... You can borrow a co-worker's MacBook for a few minutes and update the firmware on the slim. Firmware updates are permanent and dont generally need to be repeated (for the purposes of this conversation)
Edit: the firmware can be downloaded on this page, towards the bottom inside the tab labeled "Firmware": http://www.centrance.com/products/dacport/

NeotribalThank you for the detailed reply. I figured that was the case. It took a few coworker computers, but I was finally able to update the firmware.
However, DAC now works just fine on one of those laptops, but not mine. My computer keeps failing to install whatever drivers and subsequently still does not recognize the device. I have full admin rights to my work laptop. Obviously I am annoyed. But it is what it is.

NeotribalYeah, Windows 7 Enterprise Service Pack 1 x64. I did not that far back, so I will check it out. Thanks again. Thus far I figured it is something with my company's security software/setting, than again I have installed many other peripherals and drivers that did not have issues. Oh well. The wonders of modern tech :)

CEntranceThank you as well :) Most likely I will. I am waiting until I return home this weekend to test the DAC on my personal desktop and laptop (as well as other fixes shared on here) to exhaust all options. I have OCD for trying to figure out things myself first LOL
