So from what I've been seeing: DON'T buy this if you are planning to use any 32ohm or below headphones/earphones (which rules out a crap ton of gear) unless you want a constant and audible white noise hiss that's significantly louder than your motherboard or phone...

KMprI don't think that's fair- it's much better than my phone/mobo, I use it exclusively, every day, and I don't have issues after clamping it with ferrites.
It's almost impossible to get a perfect ground over usb, no portable dac is going to be as good as a desk unit with mains ground. It's more to do with physics than the quality of the dac- usb outputs really noisy power, the data lines are noisy, and 9/10 cables are unshielded. Clamping some 25c ferrites on the cable helps a ton.
Personally I can't recommend it enough. You can't get a better portable dac, if you want perfect audio quality, get a desk unit.

VexsBut i think the problem here is the gain level on the dacport itself on low gain is still too high to pair with sensitive headphones. As an example my Schiit Fulla does not produce any audible noise at listening volume even when I pair it with my JVC Fx850. Have u tried your dacport with sensitive IEMs on lowgain?

BoomboommadafakaAs a reference point, thousands of people use DACport Slim, DACport HD and their predecessor DACport Classic with low impedance IEMs. They don't report any hiss and the improvement over motherboard audio is huge. Do yourself a favor and avoid the guess work, and the incorrect rumors. Pick it up and you will see for yourself that noise is not a real issue.

Some people are exaggerating when it is not necessary to do so. The point is simple. Any DAC has some amount of residual noise. It's not possible to make anything "zero" noise if electronics is involved. With sensitive enough headphones, a very quiet room and much practice I guarantee you will find noise in any piece of audio equipment. What we are saying is that statistically this is not as big an issue as some people are trying to make it seem. Look at the user comments.
Having said that, if enough people have an issue, we can offer a low gain mod, like we have done with HiFi-M8. Again, speaking from experience, only 0.1% of HiFi-M8 customers opted for this mod, so it doesn't look like a serious issue. But up to you.
