CEntranceHey, centrance, this special looks like a great sell and I'm keen to get on it before it ends. I'm just curious if it is MFI certified and will work out of the box with my iPhone or if the CCK is needed? Also, are the internals the same as the DACportable or the DACport Slim?
mtsolmnYes on MFi. Internals are better ;)

mtsolmnThey have told me that the $199 special is the dacport slim + m8 eq + battery. So Dacport Slim specs, which aren't bad. Just not sure the EQ + battery are worth $100.

Posh_DevI think they may have improved on the portable ones in general. CEntrance mentioned that they lowered the noise floor of the DACportable to the point that is was lower than the original DACport Classic but I'm not sure if it carries to the DACportable Slim. Noise is an issue with the DACport Slim and DACport HD if you use sensitive IEMs.

U-3CHeard the same thing. I upgraded to the $289 Indiegogo deal with is the 'Full Production Unit' which I'm sure @CEntrance can second that is the full 384KHZ/32Bit DacPortable. It comes with a charging cord and cube, but that is all of a $20 value. So, I hope the noise floor is good and the quality of the HD guts with the EQ are excellent. Love my slim, just looking for portability for when I'm not at my desk listening, and have it not drain my phone battery.

Posh_DevThank for the help. I'm looking for something portable for my IEMs. Just not sure if the $100 is worth making the Slim portable or going for the full HD version. Definitely something for me to consider. Thanks again for your feedback.

mtsolmn@mtsolmn: No problem. More than willing to share my views on equipment. I'm more than a casual listener as a musician, and constantly have my headphones/IEMs on for my job as a Software Developer. The DacportMini is a great piece of equipment. I'd like the 'future proofed' 384/32 DAC in the Dacportable, which also gives the ability for different filtering. The biggest thing is the built in batter for the dacportable, and increased power. 775 mW for the DacPortable/DacportHD and 450 mW for the Dacportable Slim/Dacport Slim. Though the M8 eq on the dacportables will be nice. For $100 it's very hard to beat the Dacport Slim. Next up would be the Schiit Modi/Magni Uber stack, then a better DAC + the Asgard 2, then the Bifrost and Lyr combo. So the $100 is very well spent. If you want portable not just transportable then drop another $20 on an Anker battery and you're good. Or use a phone with a HUUUGE battery.

Posh_DevAnker battery and the Slim is pretty much what I'm trying to setup at the moment. Just waiting for the cable to arrive in the mail. It should arrive at any minute now...any minute....
