Got my first KZ IEM today. Despite the KZ ATR being rated at 16Ohm, they require a similar power when compared to my other 32Ohm IEMs that I have. As a result, the noise floor from the Slim seems just fine. It's not pitch-black, but it's forgettable on low gain.
ridhuankimThey are surprisingly good. Out of all my budget iems(xiaomi Piston 3/colorful/basic) and the Monk+, I think these sound the best. Good bass, with mids and highs that aren't recessed too much and can sparkle when needed. As long as you are fine with the over-ear design(which unfortunately has no memory wire anywhere) and the relatively large housing, you can't go wrong.
I did find that if I routed the wire underneath my shirt or jacket, the wire was prone to popping off the top of my ear and ended up being a bit troublesome. No issue if the wire is dangling outside though.
Still waiting on my KZ ED9 and ZS3. Also eyeing the super colorful ZST Pro. Gah, budget IEMs always get my wallet.
I have AudioTechnica IM70 and that memory wire really sucks.
On the other hand, I have Westone UM Pro 50 and its "EPIC" cable is really epic!
Before you get to hear the sound to get impressed, the memory wire was the first surprise.
Followed by how the IEM itself disappears in your ears.
Followed by the amazing sound.
All IEM manufacturers should learn from this EPIC cable.
Edit: But then KZ ATR is less than AUD9 lol.
Got mine today.
For the price... What can I say...
Incredible for 9aud.
It doesn't sound bass heavy to me.
It doesn't sound as clear as the re-00 but has good balance.
It's size and shape is similar to IM70.
SomeTechNoobI actually bougjt KZ ATR hoping for heavy bass for my workout.
But it was not bass heavy in my opinion. It's good for casual use with no specific genres. I think it is a overall well balanced so it can perform well with all kinds of music.
So for my workout, I bought Xiaomi bluetooth wireless IEMs.
I have faith in xiaomi (except for the Xiaomi Air) as much as I have faith in Centrance. Lol.
ridhuankimYeah I found the ATR to be pretty well balanced, not bassy.
The KZ ED9 with the stock nozzles are bbbbassssy though. Very fun to listen to. Although my ears aren't used to being punched so much so I can only listen to them for an hour or two at a time.
