These speakers look really good. I need some advice though. A few of my friends and I are trying to surprise our friend by buying him a sick sound setup. So far we managed to get an Audioengine D1 relatively cheap and are tempted at this drop. Is there anything else needed to get the set up working for him? Is it as simple as plugging these speakers into the D1? Or do we need an amp?
Like we are completely new at this, but we are trying to research into it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Quacklesd1 is just a dac/ headphone amp so yes, you will need an additional amp for these speakers. since you already have the d1, why not check out active speakers like the audioengine a2+/a5+?
