Go buy yourself the Monoprice speaker cables w/ banana plugs instead of getting ripped off by this. They are both copper; you will never be able to hear a difference between these two cables.
LBailey33Whenever expensive cables come up, the Monoprice name droppers conveniently come out of the woodwork. Like generic wire is some new invention. Companies like Mogami, Belden, and Canare have been producing cheap but good professional audio cables for decades, but forget all that - Monoprice is here to save the day!
p.s. Bananas are cosmetic. Bare wire termination does the same thing. There is nothing wrong with paying a little extra for nice looking cables, but it's ironic you should come in and bash a product for "not being able to hear the difference" and then a moment later advocate for buying a product with purely cosmetic accessories.
sockpuppyMogami is typically much more expensive though, as is Canare. Belden is the only "name brand" that has wire as cheap as Monoprice (or Cable Matters or plenty of other well known cable brands available on Amazon).
sockpuppyI mean the description for spend most of the time talking about exceptional sound (that is likely indistinguishable from a wire cut at Home Depot, so if calling it snake oil and mentioning monoprice has a similar looking product for a fraction of the price saves one person from scam cables, good job.
sockpuppyI think that he was using the Monoprice name as a generic for "affordable speaker cable". Of course, there are many companies out there that do the same, like Bluejeanscable, to name another one. I would also say that inexpensive banana plugs are the affordable way of hooking up speaker cable, if you don't feel like working with the bare wire, or in a setting were you may change connections often. I don't want to get yet another "snake oil" discussion started, but blind tests have refuted so many outrageous claims in the audio industry...:-) Of course, everybody has his/her own way of using their dispensable income...You may not hear a difference, but there is nothing wrong with spending on some bling for your audio setup...
