I agree with the rest of you good people. Something seems askew. Do a search on the Chane A1rx-c and look down for the SlickDeals' "[Last day] Chane A1rx-c(Arx A1b upgrade) Bookshelf Speaker Pair $264.98 shipped@Massdrop." Then, the price was more in line with a true discount, viz., $239.99 and $24.99 shipping.
I have talked with the owner of Chane in the past and this Massdrop program does not seem in keeping with the sterling image that his company normally projects.
Although a price increase over last year is appropriate, a Massdrop deal that in the final analysis equating to retail seems inappropriate. JMTCW
A single speaker on Chane is $149.00, if the lowest price on Massdrop can be $129.99, the difference is more like $20.00, which is close to 13%. How did you guys get to the 56%?
56% off? Are you kidding? People who are likely to buy these speakers know well that MSRP listed is for the pair, meaning 2 speakers. With shipping and tax added, you better off just buying directly from the Chane website, even if by some miracle it will hit the lowest price.
I just contacted customer support and they said it will be 29 each for shipping, 60 for the pair.
Is it really 29.99 shipping for the pair? If so I will buy.
Heard back from customer support. Shipping is $29.99 per pair. I assume the center is separate shipping.

They have a bug then. I had joined to buy a pair, and my transactions page was showing $59.98 for shipping.
That's great that it's per pair, though. An extra $30 goes a long way.
Why is shipping for the A1 $29.99 while shipping for the A2 is $26.99? That doesn't make any sense.
A1: weight: 17lbs dimensions: 13.8 x 10.25 x 7.1in
A2: weight: 27lbs dimensions: 19.7 x 11.8 x 7.1in
The A2 is bigger in literally every single way. I think shipping is listed incorrectly here.
Did the price really just go up from 119 to 129? wow....
CheesusCrust
It sure did. That's really lame.
Is shipping per speaker or if I get a pair will it still be $29.99? What about if I add the center channel also? If it is per speaker, and since Massdrop charges tax and Chane does not for me, it would make it a near wash.
VanStevens
I have the same question. I went ahead and signed up for 2 A1s (L/R) and 1 A2 (center), and I'd like to know if there's any sort of shipping discount.

Anyone have advice on what speaker stands work well with these?

Bought these direct from Chane, and love them! The price on here is awesome, and I would highly recommend these.

I think the price is actually a fluke, jujubu, so this could be a once-only event...
I have a sony 5.1 receiver with A and B inputs. can I plug my towers into the A ports and these into the B ports and select the A+B setting. Essentially having the towers and these bookshelves run as the Left and Right channel?
graysonturner
You could do that... But depending on how you set them up you may just be introducing other issues with your system. (Phasing, comb filtering...)
graysonturner
Yes, shouldn't have any issues with that other than what Kevhilge said. If you are mixing speaker brands/drivers then there will be a few sound quality issues. If you have both Chane towers and these bookshelf's then why not?

yup, love the sound on mine more each day! that planar tweeter is fantastic and the soundstage midrange really opens up the more you use them!
Why is the single speaker MSRP listed as 298 on MassDrop when that is th MSRP for a pair? The MSRP for a single is $149
Do these work with PC?
Bowman
PC speakers? #1... amplification... these speakers do not have built-in amps. Typically, PC speakers have built-in amps because the PC doesn't. You can run an outboard amp between the PC and these speakers. #2... listening distance... these speakers are not near field monitors. Typically, PC speakers are used at a listening distance of less than 3'. These speakers are not made to be listened to closer than 3'.
is it worth getting only one?
I just received mine. It looks beautiful. Can anyone help me recommend me a decent AV Amplifier that will be a good match with these speakers?
Thank you <3 !
I just received mine and yes they came in 2 different boxes and are VERY well packed. Love the speakers so far they are a huge upgrade over my entry level system and I can't wait to see how they evolve once they're broken in.
Is this pair getting delivered separately like each speaker in its own box. Because I got two delivery notifications from Massdrop

Does anyone know when they ship?

That's what I want to know
coming from Audioengine P4's will these be a big step up? Any advice on mounting to bookshelf stands? Compared to the ribbon tweeter in the Martin Logan Motion 15's how do these speakers stack up overall. I loved how the motion 15's sound but are these similar at all? These have a planar ribbon tweeter vs the folded ribbon in the motions.
Headphoneguy96
COMPARING TO AUDIOENGINE P4.... I haven't heard the P4's so can't give a direct comparison but will give my opinion. I don't know how the quality of sound would compare between these. But the P4's have a smaller sound that has less dynamic range. The A1's will have a bigger room filling sound with much more dynamic range. With these A1's, I wasn't surprised at the high quality of sound, I was expecting that, but I was surprised at how big they sound.
