In pursuit of the perfect cup of coffee, there are many factors to consider before you reach caffeinated shangri-la, least of which is the brew method itself. While an automatic machine is easiest, a French Press the most fashionable, and a host of other options entirely valid, for a strong cup of coffee with nothing but pure flavor, grab a Chemex Coffeemaker and shake up your morning start.
Before we proceed any further, let’s get down to the real difference in a Chemex brew. As the coffeemaker is made of only glass, the beaker will not age, crack, or develop mineral deposits that affect your coffee’s taste. For the filter shape, Chemex went with a cone to extract all of the coffee bean, as opposed to flat filters that leave behind some of the best parts. Additionally, the filters are 20 to 30% heavier, eliminating any sediment. Finally, the extended brew time actually gets all of the worth out of your beans, instead of quicker, automatic devices that act more like strainers than real brewers.
After boiling water to 180 - 200° F, medium or coarse grinding your beans, and soaking the grounds, gradually pour water until it is a 1/4 in from the top of the glass, refilling as necessary until the beaker is full. On this drop, we are offering four different models of the Chemex Coffeemaker. The Glass Handle Coffeemaker comes with Six Cup, Eight Cup, or Ten Cup capacity, or you can upgrade to the Ten Cup Classic Series Glass Coffeemaker, featuring a polished wood collar and leather tie.
The KONE Coffee Filter is a stainless steel filter that allows all of the good coffee oils to pass through but the holes are too small for sediment to get into your drink. Keith at Able Brewing has spent years prototyping and developing the KONE filter with over 40 iterations and two previous production models all in the pursuit of great coffee. The result of all that work is a stainless steel filter that’s been engineered down to the patterns and micrometers between each hole. Not only is it a marvel of coffee engineering, the KONE is designed and manufactured in the USA with incredibly high quality standards. This is an optional add on for $45.99 more.
