In a stunning tribute to art history, Chopard’s Pompeii Collection showcases designs and images from the Italian city’s excavated mosaics. The pen’s cap is modeled after a mosaic unearthed at the Villa Diomedes, while the barrel displays a hand-painted portrait of a Pompeian couple that dates back to a fresco from the Villa di Giulia Felice. In the portrait, Terentius Neo holds a scroll while his wife, richly dressed with gold-threaded hair, holds a stylus and a writing tablet. Twist the bottom of the pen for two other portraits of the couple, this time in intimate poses. The .925 sterling silver barrel boasts an intricate grain d’orge pattern, and the screw-on cap—appointed with red cubic zirconia—opens to reveal an 18-karat-gold medium nib. Produced in limited quantities and individually serialized, the Pompeii features a cartridge filling mechanism and a nice weight in the hand.
