NikeHave you used one at all? I got my used Hugo a week or so ago at relatively good price and the most outstanding piece of equipment I've ever had which cost well above the price of the Hugo. Yes, it's got it's quirks, but if anything it adds to the uniqueness of the device.
StoneBacon^^ As they said. Also, check out the many reviews of the Chord. It's considered one of the best higher end dac/amps available outside of the Chord II
NikeYou, good sir, are obviously not an Audiophile.
All *real* Audiophiles know that the more expensive something is, the better it is.
Audiophile grade equipment is based on the sound, proven scientific standard that price is directly relative to quality.
NikeHave you actually held one in your hand and examined with your eyes beyond a photograph? If not, you're speaking out your a** and should refrain from such proclamations.
jrw1I have and I can certainly say at $1.2k it's a definite bargain. Though at the original retail price you can certainly do better. Either way, I feel Hugo and Massdrop is not a good fit, people on here are entry audiophiles, and this is not entry.
jrw1I have auditioned it along with what I have now the Sony PHA-3 & Pioneer XPA-700. Compared to these beasts in regard to build, sound and functionality this one does not cut it for me. This is my view and PLEASE ppl don't take what I say personal.
