Hey everyone - I wanted to officially share the update here that everyone in this drop have been emailed:
It has been brought to our attention that the vendor in this drop has altered the product box for this drop before shipping. Altering product boxes is against our vendor guidelines and we do not consider this acceptable. We're sorry that we were not aware of this before setting up this drop and for any confusion or issues this has caused.
If you would like to request an order cancellation or return for a refund, please go to the transactions page and create a support ticket.
In addition, we have issued $40 to everyone's Massdrop account. This will be automatically applied to your next purchase, at which point you’ll be able to see it on the checkout page. It’s good for one-time use, which means you won’t see a remaining balance, and expires one year from today.

Your commanding me stop? I read statements from reliable sources. Mistakes happen. Hire mo mojo checkers. Learn lessons, and try to gain back trust. P.s. Make me stop! 1st ammendment.
The MD office and the warehouse are on opposite coasts. I highly doubt that the MD main office had any idea that the packages were altered, and the warehouse likely was unaware that it would be a problem.
Please make this drop available again.
Almost 2,000 people have requested this drop at this point. How come you guys refuse to open it up again?

Dude, I'am hoping - like you - that Massdrop will do another one.
I got one myself and the Mojo is a superb Dac/Amp ... unequaled for its talents and qualities with regards to the price IMO. Not to mention its size. Would love to have a spare.
But, if you read 'some' of the comments made during the Drop, not all of them were complementary to MD - the innuendos were plainly unpalatable. Tho' MD came thru, a number of participants were 'annoyed' by the sellers (i.e. MD is a re-seller) antics.
In the end, MD re-funded $40 to each participant - I wonder what MD's eventual profit was after all was taken into account. Whatever the truth, I have my Mojo.
My thanks to the crew at MD!
Would you recommend Chord Mojo or HeadAmp Pico DAC/AMP for Senn HD6xx?
I noticed mine makes a hard-pinched noise when I connected the cable in the battery slot for the first time and when is fully charged :(
Finally got it, I'm a believer now, period.
yeah this a wierd case. I got my unit from Amazon UK (which is as authorized as can be). My opinion is that Chord always insists in the quality of their product and they are very strict about such things.
While this particular drop did not turn out well, I do appreciate Massdrop's efforts to notify drop participants, and I have already received a refund. I do hope Massdrop can eventually become an authorized dealer for Chord products. I wouldn't mind, for example, if it became an outlet for Chord to sell "blemished" units, for example, that work but would normally not be sellable due to cosmetic issues.
Actually this sort of thing has become sort of "par for the course" for Massdrop the past year or two... shady vendors, endlessly missed ship dates, shipping some of the participants in a drop while delaying others, representing drops as in stock when no stock exists, inflated MSRP's on drop products, canceled drops, etc., etc., etc. This latest Chord Mojo fiasco doesn't surprise me at all. Better to pay a bit more and buy from a valid, reputable, authorized dealer and get fully backed, fully warrantied current, fresh product with full serial numbers, etc. than save a pittance and have take a chance with potentially counterfeit product, defective product, possibly returned old stock product, etc. or have to hassle with jumping through Massdrop hoops to get an RMA, shipping back, etc. What happened to you guys at Massdrop? You used to be much more on top of things...
see also: Chord Electronics Massdrop has previously procured stock from unauthorised sales channels (grey importing), removing/modifying serial numbers from the product/packaging in the process. Because of this we cannot guarantee that the items purchased are legitimate Mojos or that they meet our high standards.
Will there be any improvement in sound quality when combined with a liquid carbon x?
Hi. I need help and would welcome any comments.
Like many of the contributors here in this discussion, I ordered a Chord Mojo from Massdrop (i.e. the recent one). From the various contributors, I notice that the present issue (i.e. Chord disavowing warranty over Mojo's purchased via Massdrop) has been going on for some time ... early 2016?
Could anyone of the previous Mojo buyers indicate if their purchases were not up to the mark or in anyway faulty or caused them to regret the purchase or caused them to return their purchases to Mojo. That's to say that if previous buyers of the Mojo were disgruntled, what were they disgruntled about?
I am trying to decide whether I should cancel my order ... And, if previous buyers were merely uncomfortable about the warranty issue, I might stay the cancellation & keep the Mojo... My other purchase from Massdrop have been very good experiences.
My thanks in advance.

My package is on route with UPS now. I expect a full refund. I can confirm once that happens.
SStas
Full refund. No issues, and very poliet and professional about the experience. Out the VAT, but I’m not fussed about it.
What is this means? No warranty? I just want my New Mojo
Just got an E-mail from Massdrop. They acknowledged the situation, and it appears that it was the vendor removing the serial numbers. They're giving full refunds, as well as a $40 credit. The full text of the E-mail is included below for reference:
"'It has been brought to our attention that the vendor in this drop has altered the product box for this drop before shipping. Altering product boxes is against our vendor guidelines and we do not consider this acceptable. We're sorry that we were not aware of this before sending them out, and for any confusion or issues this has caused.
If you would like to request a return for refund due to this situation, please reply to this email and someone will provide you with a prepaid return label.

How about that obvious cut-out of the hollogram or whatever it was.. Something was removed from my box for sure... Look at your picture, it's there as well.
that is a bad thing.... and how about the Mojo? is refubrished?
Let's hope this is a one off and massdrop learns a lesson
NOTE: Effective January 2017, the 1-year Massdrop warranty is no longer available for products that are not covered by a manufacturer warranty. Massdrop will honor the warranty for drops in which it was originally offered. If you experience any issues with your product and it is within the 1-year warranty period, please contact Massdrop Support for assistance.
Looks like the warranties are conflicting each other.
How I interpreted it was, the mojo has to have manufacturer's warranty since it has the 1 year massdrop warranty but they will still honor the warranties of the drops before Jan of 2017.

i am sorry, i think i am not selfless enough to protect massdrop.
if you read through headfi, chord offers repairs and sometimes for free even for out of warranty mojo.
i dont mind paying for repair or to change battery after a few years.
warranty is one thing but the mojo here are not honor by chord so i think they wont even repair them.
i think as a consumer i am just protecting myself and mojo isnt something cheap.
has anyone email the support and got a reply?
gunwale
I understand your position. In my case, I do not want to protect Chord who is probably in breach of the competition laws when acting this way with Massdrop. And I do not want to protect Massdrop who is not transparent with its customers in this case because they are not dislosing the problem they have with Chord regarding honoring the manufacturers warranty. The same goes if Massdrop deliberately (I have no proof but rumour has it...) took off the serial numbers of the units sold (even though I understand why they could do this to protect the confidentiality of the original purchasers of the units from Chord). This is a business war and I am not saluting the way Chord is acting as a seller Or the way Massdrop is also acting as a reseller in this particular case. But globally I have a good experience. With Massdrop and I have no intention to boycott them.

Not like they said it was through Chord, it could be (most likely) through a non-authorized dealer. Also Massdrop typically takes care of warranties.

Although MD apologized a couple of days ago and given everyone who ordered $40 in their accounts, according to Chord Electronics in that post, MD had to cancel a drop of this product before - giving $20 back to everyone last time. Amounts might not be accurate, but what appears to be accurate is that this is the second time MD has allowed a non-authorized vendor of Chord gear to use them as a drop-shipper. That makes me not want to buy electronics from here in the future.
What are you doing to prevent this from happening again, @Will?
Wow!
just in from Chord on their twitter site: https://twitter.com/ChordAudio/status/910216933919703041 WARNING: Massdrop-bought Mojos will not be supported or honoured with a warranty. See our facebook page for more. https://www.facebook.com/chordelectronics/
''WARNING: Mojo on US commerce website, Massdrop. We’re aware of a number of Mojos being sold on US commerce website, Massdrop. Please be advised that these are not official Chord-sold products; they are neither sold by us nor any of our authorised partners. Massdrop-bought Mojos will not be supported technically or warrantied by Chord and we recommend they are returned to Massdrop wherever possible. ''

Thanks. It really doesnt worth the 6 weeks wait and 50 dollars...
i'm also critical of those certain drops in which once you're in then you can't get out / cancel before drop ends... the 'all sales final' approach isn't listed unless you're way down into the body of the drop, ie the fostex ebony sale... i mean sure there is no problem with all sales final: just make it more apparent right up front.
After a six week wait I finally received my Chord Mojo only to discover I received a very old unit, maybe a year old, in the old white box, and with the serial number removed!! The serial number was actually cut off the box! Very clearly tampered with. Now what am I to do if this unit has been sitting in storage for a year and I have a battery problem. I was not aware that buying on Massdrop meant I was purchasing year old black-market product which would not qualify for warranty. I thought this was a legitimate purchase. Not impressed for the $50 I saved.

Yeah, Massdrop has a lot of explaining to do here.
just got my mojo.
i installed the win 7 drivers but i am having some disconnects.
i play through tidal and after a few minutes it just shut down.. anyone having the same issue?
the usb light is bluish purple.
gunwale
ok it was due to low battery.
the usb indicator is always blue while charging.
it will only change to red when it is not charging...
silly me...
Awesome synergy with the TH-X00. Can't wait to pair it with the CTH.
Good price on a GREAT product! Nice to see MD working with a top-notch, high end audio outfit.

First let me say, I enjoy your videos. They're well done and informative. I was just in 🇬🇧 where, I married a Scouser. I'm a Yank.
I love everything UK audio (From Marshall to Tannoy etc. ) and appreciate the quality components from John and the boys coming out of, is it, Farleigh?
As as far as MD is concerned and your comment, I would never buy a high end component here, namely, the warranty issue. If fact, I had an issue with my Mojo. It did not play well with my IPhone 6plus (RF issues) and was returned to my "authorized dealer" for a full refund. You're right, that's not happening here.
I've moved on to Woo Audio amps, a Cary Audio DAC with (2) 6922 tube analog output stage and currently listening to, the very under appreciated Beyerdynamic DT1990 Pro.
Keep up the great work, my friend, you have one of the best channels out there!
Cheers
Keefer
If you call having the serial number removed working with a "top-notch" outfit, you have a strange definition of quality and service.
Yeah, I think I,m broke now too. But what a way to go. Just don't tempt me with the 'Poly' till I can save some more dosh.
I put this one through on the credit card as ' haberdashery ' , do you think the missus will capische?
gr8....now m broke
With the new Chord Poly coming out that integrates perfectly with the Mojo, this is a great buy!
Well that did some damage to my wallet. 😆
Wow, wow, wow. Already have one. Would buy it if I didnt.
Is the MOJO 2 coming soon, so time to get rid of some stock at a slight discount, but not too deep? Lol
m8oman
Not be in least surprised to see Mojo 2 in 2018 as Chord has had great run with original Mojo. Hugo 1 has appeared all over for sale after Hugo 2 made its debut. Love for Mojo, but like my DAP and IEM's more. Small footprint and mobility reign supreme in age of skinny jeans and robo-investing. Big 'ol stacks of audio components and commission-based investment advisors are so Mom and Dad old school.
MRBG
Enter the Poly... ;)
Is it possible to run two line outs at the same time for the line level DAC?
drummer307
There are two headphone jacks that can be set to line out, so I believe the answer to this is yes.

love my mojo as both a DAP** with an ipod touch as well as a preamp DAC with my Focal Alpha 50 desktop powered speakers. (**I'm using the mojo extender module in the 'cable pack' so you only need 1 cable, not 2...in this case an apple lightening to usb camera adapter FYI this module in pic is not the new poly bluetooth module btw, despite looking the same: instead it's the cable starter pack at about $100 or so as below: https://chordelectronics.co.uk/product/mojo-cable-pack/
it does double time as my preamp DAC for my (Focal Alpha 50) powered desktop speakers. i had the ifi micro idsd (original silver) but prefer the mojo sound.

Yeah yeah but I'll take my DAP in a back pocket over that pile. The new ScanDisk 400 GB Micro SD cards are going to make a lot of portable audio lovers with just one card slot very happy.
MRBG
An SD card has nothing to do with the SQ however....sure I'd love a mojo dap one piece...but for the price I paid for the combo the mojo SQ smokes so much out there.
