sailor_smakI haven't heard it, but I own an HD700 and it is definately finicky with dacs. It did not sound good, even in balanced mode on a PHA-3, which uses a Sabre 9018 sigma/delta type chip. On the other hand it totally shines on a Sony TAZH1ES, with all of the issues on the PHA-3 solved. That is using a custom FPGA setup.

sailor_smakI have HD700 (aftermarket cable) & mojo. Mojo is a really good pairing to HD700, as the Mojo needs good load to sound good. Mojo is inherently warm sounding, and HD700 is a little bit thin, so the synergy is good. Compared to other sources I have, such as IBasso DX90, The Mojo has more sub-bass that is very tight and fast. Mids are more intimate since the Mojo has a relatively small sound stage, and the fullness of the chord house sound really helps with the slightly thin sennheiser sound. Highs are a surprise, there is actually more quantity in treble, which would be bad for any other dac/dap since HD700 has uneven and overly boosted treble, but the Mojo presents a "rounded shimmer", which makes a painful stab sound more like a slightly bright twang.
However, I think the HD700 needs a DAC with bigger soundstage, and the mid bass is slightly too tight. Normally most earphones will benefit from tighter bass, but the HD700 already has such short decay and roll-off seems a little too fast to be natural. Great for pop/trance music, not so good for any music with real instruments/classical. They sound too solid-state.
