Has anyone compared the Chord Mojo to the new Shure SHA900. I was thinking of getting the Chord however I use the iPod classic and the Chord as noted earlier does not work with the iPod classic. So I went with the Shure. I'm not sorry it is a fantastic machine. It does everything you would want a portable amplifier to do. As to the earlier comment that it doesn't matter too much to the sound compared to the headphones. I have to disagree this completely changes the sound. I have the Shure 846, the Sennheiser IE800 and the Sony Z5. It improves the sound of all of them. But especially the Sennheiser IE800. I never understood why people like the IE 800 so much until now. This really brings them to life. I have had other portable amplifier's aune's B1, Cayin C5- Sony PH1-A ,Fireye HDB. I felt the Fireye was a disappointment I had to return it because of a bad headphone jack. However it had almost no power. It says it could drive 600 ohms no way. I had to crank my iPod all the way up and crank the Fireye all the way up just to get really good sound. However the Shure can drive anything from the most sensitive IEMs all the way to 600 ohms and drive them with power to spare. I just use it as a line in and line out. However that's all you need the sound is truly amazing. Yes it's expensive however you can get it for less than 900 now on Amazon. (I'm sure Massdrop will have it soon for probably 8 bills). However this is that wow experience with a portable amplifier. I'd be surprised if anyone was disappointed with the SHA900. Like I said I would like to see how it compares to the Chord I've read no reviews comparing the two. For the iPod classic user if you don't want to spend that kind of money think of the Sony PH1- A. It uses the 30 pin connector. So it can bypass the the DAC on the iPod and use its own. It also has a very nice sound and powerful amplifier. You can find them between 2 to 300 dollars.

raymondehayes1Isn't the Shure $1000? It seems to be much more overpriced than the Mojo. It's hard to believe it would have a better DAC implementation and the amp is likely on par with others like Sony's PHA series you mentioned.
In general, I don't see $550 or $1000 in value added by these devices. A few hundred dollars perhaps, but they come across as very overpriced machines.
