OK. Got mine today and here is what I think so far:
1. Comes with a card to download a DSD album in 3 formats 256, 128, 64. (cool). 2 Love the feel of the marbles (buttons) to adjust volume level ... 3 Like the fact that you can tone down the brightness of the buttons by pressing the volume up/down together when unit is on. 4 Dislike the fact that that you can't toggle the button lights off on subsequent pressing of the volume up/down btns (they should have programmed one more press setting) - some ppl hate lights on their gear - especially at night. 5 Dislike the fact that they recommend you charge the Mojo for 10-whole-hours before use. (really??? what kid can resist being able to play with his/her new toy right out of the box?) 6 Will let you play something whilst charging (not sure if I did something wrong here but see 5 above) 7. Dislike the fact that they ship a 'charging USB cable that is about 3 inches in length (useless IMO) - still in the box. 8. For > $500 they should ship some other goodies like a charger a cool 'Chord' USB certified audio cable and a longer charging cable and 2 rubber bands. Guess they sacrificed those extras (See OPPO HA-2 in box stuff) for the non-DACchip FPGA. cores (See

) interview. 9. Specs - can play PCM, DSD, DXD formats that should allow you to play hi-res for years to come. 10. Portable. OK but I don't see me strapping this to my phone and walking around with a brick in my front pocket (Is that your phone in your pocket or are you just glad to see me?). Maybe I'd use this with my phone but I'm not seeing me dealing with the hassle of hooking up when I can just throw on some bluetooth headphones and go for a run and listen to my lossy files.
My primary purpose was to get a WOW factor when compared to my existing setup which I think is quite good. (see my other post for description).
Sound results so far: I tested this afternoon while charging the Mojo. Compared various hi-res music files (96/24 - 192/24). I compared the Mojo with a combination Peachtree DACiTx to a Little Dot MK IV SE tube amp combo. I used WASAPI for both DACs with JRiver MC and Foobar 2000. The headphones was the Fostex TH900. It would take me about 10 seconds between switching to listening to the Mojo or the Peach/Dot combo. I can say that I couldn't pick one over the other -- which says a lot for the Mojo's performance or my listening memory. There was a instance where I thought the Mojo was kicking ass and realized that I was actually listening to the Peach/Dot combo instead -- so you can see I was rooting, subconsciously, for the Mojo to wow me. In a way, I guess it did as it, at least, equaled what I thought couldn't be beat. So maybe this is a lesson learned for me. If it already sounds great, what is out there that can sound better without some form of trickery. There is no audiophile nirvana once you get to awesome. Maybe my brain and your brain will interpret the sound differently. The Mojo's plus is that the Mojo can play DSD and my ol' Peachtree does not. It is also 1/8 th the size of my Peach/Dot combo and can travel.

iCeOL8TRAmnesiaWhatever dude, ears are subjective. Enjoy your Mojo, currently, it is my only DAC and I use it everywhere. Just picked up the SMSL 8A so, when it arrives I'll do another comparison. BTW. My review was 50 weeks ago.

PathworksYes so you admit that initial review was you still hanging on to your old setup..... SMSL...... the M8A thats old( thought that was a typo and it was an A8 something new)..... wtf you get that for the Mojo supposedly smokes that and you have to get the SMSL PSU too right or the M8A doesnt sound right I was initially looking at that until the Mojo came along that M8A predates the Mojo and has been on MassDrop many times..... thats kind of an old deal/gear now.... maybe should have done more homework before you sprung on that one............
