JustAnotherSteveThanks. Warranty is a critical factor. You never know what will happen to the watch during its month long journey before reaching you. I don't like the DHL service here at mass drop.
MyFriendNo warranty on this watch!!!!
when there are warranties associated with a drop, MD explicitly states that on the items‘s drop page.
Do you feel lucky?
longislandwatches has this watch with a warranty
leeALong Island watch does indeed not have this watch, it's been out of stock for a while, at least in the blue waffle dial. This is the first time I've seen this watch available in a while. I'm aware it's a bit of a gamble but worst case scenario I can get it serviced for a bit more.
ISHYGDDTIt's exactly what I am worrying about. Where do these watches come from if they are not in the market for quite some time. Will they be refurbished items?
leeAI've never heard of massdrop selling refurbished items; if they do, it would be illegal. I might take it somewhere for someone to have a look at it, but I doubt they're just scamming people now.
That said, I do wish it was more apparent whom they were getting these from. I would guess some company in southeast asia.
ISHYGDDTMaybe they do sell 'new condition'.
I bought a Mondaine chromatography 6 weeks ago. It looked new.
But there was no warranty card in the box. I contacted MD 'support' and requested a refund.
I felt I was I was deceived (that there was no warranty). A luxury watch without a warranty ? ... strange !!
MD 'support' gave me the 'run around' and I never got a refund. I supposed I could contest this with my credit card company. But the time and aggravation in doing so....
MD pointed out that buried deep deep in MD's 'support pages' is a statement that states 'unless there is a warranty specified in a drops's page listing, there is no warranty. ... LOL... how many people search perform a deep search into a merchant's 'support' pages to discover that??? none.
I'd recommend buying from a 'normal' merchant that has a warranty/return and &refund policy.
jomashop,, some ebay, longislandwatch, etc...
The 'no warranty' situation is bizarre !.
leeAI would normally agree, and I don't plan on buying watches from MD often or really at all. Usually the discount isn't enough to justify the lack of a warranty, I agree with that, and I'd be willing to pay more for the warranty. I just haven't seen this watch available anywhere and have always wanted it, and figured 100 bucks was worth the gamble. I wouldn't buy a speedy off of here, but I don't mind taking this little gamble.
MyFriendGray market watches, either without warranty or warrantied by the dealer instead of the manufacturer, are very common. Essentially any new watch sold by a dealer who is not an authorized dealer (for the manufacturer) is a gray market watch. Interestingly, watches are often supplied to gray market dealers by the manufacturers.
Jaywalk3rI decided to just join the waitlist on long island watch's site. I'm not in so much of a hurry that I'm willing to throw away a 1-year warranty and more peace of mind in terms of sourcing. Especially since the price is nearly identical.
They also have the waffle blue model shown here if you're interested.
