Hey Massdrop,
there is one fatal flaw with this drop which would have made me pass on it even if I wanted lined / seyes paper. Namely, some people have already come to some definite conclusions about their preferences; in my case, is that I don't care for wirebound notebooks no matter how good the paper or low the price. I'd love to get a couple of clothbound Clairefontaines in A5, but I wouldn't join this drop because half of what I'd acquire (the two wirebound notebooks) would be a pointless waste of money and would mean I'd need to find someone to give them away to.
I havea suggestion for a more conceptual drop in the page-type that is my preference—blank; but Clairefontaines "Metric" collection page (http://www.clairefontaine.com/EN/products-page/clairefontaine-metric-n2/) could make for such drops also in graph or ruled.
Namely: - A5 size http://www.clairefontaine.com/EN/products-page/clairefontaine-metric-n2/cloth-bound-notebook-14-8x21cm-96sh-plain-9540C/
- A5+ size (somewhat bigger, at a price of "+$xx.yy") http://www.clairefontaine.com/EN/products-page/clairefontaine-metric-n2/cloth-bound-notebook-17x22cm-96sh-plain-9740C/
-A6+ size (bigger than usual pocket Moleskines/Rhodia-Webnotebooks and the like, but smaller than A5 or Moleskines/Rhodia's "medium" size; at a price of "-$xx.yy") http://www.clairefontaine.com/EN/products-page/clairefontaine-metric-n2/cloth-bound-notebook-11x17cm-96sh-plain-69600C/ (this notebook is exactly half the size of the A5+, so it would be easy to ship in another drop idea—2 of the A5+ and two of the A6+, which would stack ideally for convenient shipping and look like three A5+)
With some accompanying leather covers for the respective sizes, this would be a killer product in terms of price/utility; people could pick the size suitable to their pagesize needs and regularly buy these as refills.
I would love to see such a drop; not a nonsensical combination that tries to appeal to a wider public but probably ends up restricting the target audience because people don't like either wirebound or clothbound.
