Is the paper in the stationary pad the same as what's used in a clothbound notebook? (If so, what would stop one simply from trimming the binding off of an A4 notebook—roughly the same price as the stationery pad but double the page count—as crude as that would be?)

learningsquareIt is a different paper. The Triomphe paper is a bit smoother (probably due to more coating) and has a different feel to it when writing.
