So, wait... These are the the A4 tablets with the small envelopes? I assumed (incorrectly apparently) that the A4 tablets would come with the large envelopes?

JimmyDubbsDefinitely still the small envelopes. Based in cost, and the mismatch, this was rather disappointing.

Isn't Clairefontaine Triomphe less than $10 from online sources?

clarviosonMy partial issue here is the mismatch of paper to envelope size: Clairfontaine Triomphe has been my go-to stationery for years, but for my purposes the A5 pads are perfect while the A4 is simply too big. And while we can't compare the price of one size to another, I would point out that an A5 pad runs between $5 and $6 at either JetPens or Goulet.

clarviosonYes, but this drop was for multiple pads and envelopes.

I passed on this due to the mismatch between the size of the paper and the size of the envelopes. People complained about this before and now we have the same problem again. Perhaps folding the heck out of your letters is normal in France, where this paper is made, but I don't like doing it. A set with envelopes which match the size of the paper (Clairefontaine does make real A4 size envelopes) would be welcome.

Again, Massdrop, PLEASE add the envelope size to the description of the drop.

casey.scottCasey, assuming they are the same envelopes sold in the Triomphe set at Goulet Pen Company, they are C6 size, 90g weight.

There's no savings here. The stationery set RETAILS for $13.50 for one pad and 2 boxes of envelopes. Pads by themselves retail for $9 each. It's less $$ paying full price after shipping charges!

I get Clairefontaine stationery paper and notebooks from Goulet pens and Penchalet. I always check the latter first because they always have a 10% off code and free shipping for > $50 (or $25? Can't remember). But both places have excellent prices on Clairefontaine. But my favorite paper is Tomoe River and i get that from Amazon

EagleLobesToo often Massdrop is pay retail and wait a fraking 2months drop. Drop is good, dropping the ball on the whole group buy for a significant savings concept that started the company.

This is great paper, but does not compare to Tomoe paper. Tomoe is just absolutely blows it out of the water. Longing for the day that Tomoe is sold on Massdrop. I know everyone says start a poll, but I'm not sure how far that will go...

Completely agree. You have really described things well! If Tomoe River made a thicker paper ... well that would be something I would be very interested in.

FONECultPens has the largest selection for the price. TheWritingDesk is slightly cheaper, but no where near the selection.

Does it really cost $8.75 to ship something that weighs so little!?

I wish I would have paid more attention to what this drop included... While the stationery can be folded into quarters and fit in the envelopes, I much would have preferred the large Clairefontaine envelopes (8.66x4.49") that are sized to match up with the A4 size paper. The small envelopes (6.38x4.33") that were included with this drop are intended to be used with A5 size paper, folded in half. My fault entirely for not reading the description, but it would have made much more sense for Massdrop to offer envelopes which correspond with the paper. Oh, well. Suppose I'll buy a bunch of A5 paper and large envelopes to mix and match.

casey.scottThe envelopes look like the correct size for a personal stationery set. When I was younger, it was more common for people to mail one another letters and all the stationery came with envelopes of this size. You fold the paper lengthwise into thirds, then fold the folded stack once more from the left so it fits into the envelope.

EagleLobesYeah, like I said, you CAN make it work. I just prefer to use larger envelopes with this size paper folded into thirds, not thirds and then in half, and the smaller envelopes with A4 size paper folded in half. I'm very particular about most things, I admit.
