This kit allows you to use your home sewing machine for free-motion quilting and to stitch designs without the hassle of drawing and stenciling. Because the clear acrylic offers an unobstructed view, the Clarity ruler foot can be used to do free-motion work and then left on as you switch over to sewing with templates. The kit also comes with two Fine Line rulers: one 6-inch straight ruler and one 6.5-inch continuous curve ruler, great for all types of quilters, quilting machines, and right- or left-handed users. The ruler base measures a quarter-inch thick and 2 and a half inches wide. The finger grips encourage a natural hand position on the ruler, and can help ease the tension in your shoulders while quilting.
Note: On this drop, you’ll get the Clarity ruler foot and two rulers. At checkout, choose the shank kit that fits your machine: the low shank kit (base price), the medium shank kit (+ $2), the high shank kit (+ $4), or the specialty high shank kit CRF (+ $6). The specialty high shank kit CRF is for use with straight stitch machines, including Babylock Quilter's Choice Professional, Brother PQ1300, PQ1500, Brother Nouvelle 1500, Brother Designio DZ1500F, Juki TL-98P, TL-98QE, Juki TL-2000Qi, TL-2010Q, Juki TL-2000QVP Mini, Janome 1600P, Janome 1600-DB, and Janome 1600QC. You can also add a ruler template set (+ $59) or the Virtual Classroom Series (1) DVD (+ $21).
To find the right shank kit for your machine, leave the presser foot lever and needle down in their lowest positions, and measure from the middle of the screw hole to the top of the throat plate. If you get ½ inch, choose the low shank; if you get ¾ inch, choose the medium shank; and if you get 1 inch, choose the high shank.
This set includes four templates: a 2-inch-diameter half circle (straight-edge length: 3.5 inches); a 3-inch diameter half circle (straight-edge length: 5.5 inches); a 4-inch diameter circle (straight-edge length: 7.5 inches); and a half-ellipse (straight-edge length: 3.5 inches). These templates can be used easily on domestic systems for smaller projects. For larger projects that require a lot of movement of your quilt under the needle, they're ideal for marking and following your quilting designs. Use them to quilt spines for feathers, and count on the “dashed” reference lines laser scored into the bottom to keep your spine elements consistent. The half-ellipse template does beautiful corner treatments and works nicely for border and block designs.
