We carried them at the headphone shop I used to work at. NC is very good, not Bose level good but extremely good for the Massdrop price. We sold them when they first launched at $300 and customers doing a side by side demo with the Bose QC25/35 would typically agree the NC was a little weaker than Bose, but Bose sounded better and overall more comfortable. Sound is definitely on the bassy side and a bit bloated. When used passively they are very nicely balanced and the bass is much more punchy. The downside is they require a lot of power to get good volume in passive mode. With NC on or the PASC setting the volume is good, but I didn't care for the warm, bloated sound. They are quite comfortable, but can get a bit stuffy as the headphones are thick and rather heavy. While heavy the build quality is rather good.

ARiveraThanks for the mini review, especially the comparison of the ANC versus Bose QCs. There's a long review over at head-fi that almost leads you to think these would have even better NC than Bose, which would have surprised me if true.

JaggiI've found that the effectiveness of NC can vary from person to person as well as the environment it's used in. Bose NC is designed with plane engine noise in mind and that's where it usually beats Sony and other companies. The shop I worked at was in a busy airport so for general background noise they are very comparable, but I'm sure the Bose would be better on a plane. If your main concern is NC quality, the Cleer are an amazing value at $129.

ARiveraHave you flown or know anyone who has flown with these? I'm looking to see if they are adequate for drowning out airplane noise or if I should just bite the bullet and go with Bose.
