I got one a few months ago, like the features, but, does anyone have a recommendation on how to get rid of the weird taste that this seems to add? Should I use baking soda to rinse it with or something like this?

Does this have the same thread pitch as the Sawyer Squeeze? I am wondering if I can thread that on directly

TurtleHurdleNo. These are way bigger than the Sawyer filters. They will fit the BeFree filters though.

TurtleHurdleNo but it does have the same threads as a katadyn Befree water filter. normal disposable water bottles, like smartwater or life water, thread with the sawyer.

These are pretty great. I picked the 3L last year from REI for $25(?) . It comes with a tiny pouch to store when not in use. Relatively easy to clean/disinfect like a regular bladder, and dries easily too if you hang it up (use a cabinet or something). Pouring is a little tricky since it's literally just a bladder. The loop holes are similar to what you'd find on dry bags, they're durable but will deform after prolonged use. Bladder itself is pretty durable. Or at least more durable than what I would have expected. I babied it for a while until it fell off a picnic table onto sharp gravel and poke-y sticks without any damage (while containing about 2.5L of water). Since then I've been slinging it around with a little less care. Personally I would prefer the 3L and just fill it with less water so I won't jump in on this, but would jump in at this if I didn't own one.

argentumThanks for the post. I was considering jumping on this but I think I'll buy a 3L from REI instead.
One note, I would personally never use one of these as a sole water container (too many compromises) but they fit with the Katadyn BeFree filters. That's my main use case for it.

dchu101Neat, I didn't know they fit that filter! I have a Katadyn Hiker filter and the big pouch that fits the filter can just barely also squeeze in the 3L, making it a pretty convenient backpacking setup. Mostly cause I want what goes in to be clean, but I can see the convenience of instantly filling up and filtering just as you use. Same thing, really.
