What is the difference or the "selling point" of this kit vs something like an aluminum Varmilo va68m?

NurbsThis is fully programmable and customizable. Plus excellent support that Varmilo just can't give you. Plus this is a very premium keyboard compared to the va68m.
Edit: Excellent support - not just excellent...

SerubinAh OK, thanks. The programmability and the ability to choose your switches is nice, but "premium" is subjective? I've seen the aluminum Varmilos in person. They are quite nice. Hefty and well made. I would call them premium. There's even an option for a magnesium alloy casing if you don't like aluminum. Almost pulled the trigger on it, but now I see this. Have you held a Clueboard in person? Just curious how premium it is.

NurbsI've built one myself - I love it. Easily my favorite, even over the Varmilos - I've heard of and had a lot of issues the USB header not working correctly. While you probably can't go wrong with a Varmilo, I think the overall quality is higher on the clueboard. In part because it's a kit, so you have more control over it.
For me, the programming is a deal breaker. I like being able to use my keyboards right out of the box without having to remap keys on each computer I use. For example, I have caps lock mapped to escape & ctrl depending on if you press or hold the key - and that works on any computer no drivers needed.
That being said, I'm very partial to the clueboard, I've been using it for a number of months and I've just ordered a second one for work.

SerubinThanks for the info Serubin. That's the kind of answer I was looking for. About to drop $320 on SA Carbon, and now this. Massdrop is bad for the wallet.

NurbsPremium and quality are subjective to the point of actually trying the keyboard itself. I own both a VA68M and a Leopold FC660M, and the difference is pretty noticeable; even though its all plastic, the Leopold is so much nicer overall.
The major difference between this and the VA68M is that the case and plate are all one piece on the Clueboard.

CyphreSo in your opinion, disregarding the price. Which of the 3 is the best for your in terms of quality?

ThugricWell the Clueboard, although the end result sort of depends on your efforts, such as squaring up keyswitches an whatnot.
