cutebunnyIMO, $140 for a Das is a big rip off. The most those should go for are $80. If its the only board near you, then sure, get it, but if you can get the CODE or even better a Model F keyboard on ebay, it would be worth it in both the money department and the switch department
cutebunnyThe CODE has DIP switches, is better built, has backlighting, and is a real minimalist design. I guess the Das has a USB hub, but I've never needed one on a keyboard and have always considered that more of a gimmick (YMMV). Oh, and Das uses language like "German engineered, mechanical gold-plated key switches", which roughly translates to "we're ripping you off"!
cutebunnyI owned a Model S Professional for Mac and now have the Das Keyboard 4 Professional for Mac, which I use at home. I upgraded because I wanted the dedicated multimedia controls and I wasn't a big fan of the glossy, black plastic used for the Model S. I also use the built-in USB hub, so the switch from USB 2.0 to USB 3.0 was nice to have.
At the office, I am using the CODE with MX Clear that I got with the previous drop (ended in December), although I just bought one with MX Brown in this drop. I really like the dedicated media controls on the Das Keyboard - I configured the CODE keyboard so that I can use the keys to the left of the keypad with the Fn key, but dedicated keys are obviously a little easier to access. With that said, the CODE looks very sleek and I agree with wordfool that DIP switches and backlighting are nice extras. While I feel that the CODE is well-built, I wouldn't necessarily say that the Das is flimsy - the Matias Quiet Pro that I had before felt much cheaper.
