Barcelona-based Companion Denim believes that finding a good pair of jeans is like making a true friend: one that will accompany you on all of life’s adventures and grow more comfortable, more familiar with time. That’s why the company makes the Joel 014I and the Jan 06CA, each featuring 14-ounce midweight sanforized selvage denim that transitions easily into the warmer months. Sourced from the best Italian mills, the denim is then crafted into jeans on both modern and vintage sewing machines, some of which are a century old. Made of natural, unbleached fabric for a clean summer look, the Joel 014I features the company’s popular Joel Slim fit with a medium rise, balanced cut, and straight leg. Meanwhile, the Jan 06CA is made of classic blue denim with a neppy hand and lots of personality. It features the Taper Jan fit with a mid-high rise, a looser fit at the hip and thigh, and a tapered leg.

Signature details identify each pair as a Companion Denim original. There’s a selvage loop above the left front pocket that allows you to hang your keys at a higher point, making them more comfortable to carry and less likely to damage the pocket bags. The cotton tape inside the waistband also works as a hanger, and the front pockets are reinforced with a super-soft, durable cotton tape from Italy. The hems are chain stitched, and the binded fly provides extra durability—and looks cool, too. Finally, the nerve embroidery on the back pockets is done on a discontinued Spanish sewing machine from the 1960s, with the two stripes representing the relationship between the wearer and his Companion.
