@Pawnerd -- Interesting, looks like it's based on the 32u4 ? The back allows me to plug a standard 6 pin AVR ISP connector I assume ? Is there the possibility to add an option without switches installed nor included ? I prefer whites w/ clear springs, not exactly common. ;) And possible different LED's...
Great job, looking forward to play w/ it ! Check this out (note the date): http://descentbb.com/viewtopic.php?p=67750#67750

Grendel Yep, it's based on the 32u4. Awesome little chip with every feature (+ enough computation power) for a keyboard.
The Knops Mini is made to be easily taken apart and put back together. The only 'issue' with putting it back together is that the adhesive rubber anti-slip pads hide the screws. So you might not be able to put that back on the keyboard after riping it off. If you decide to take the device apart to change switches, I can't give you a warranty on the electronics. However, I am willing to ship you free replacement rubber anti-slip pads if you cover the shipping cost (2 euro if you live in EU).
I had a discussion with someone from Cooler Master about doing that as well. The reason that I choose to make my own product casing was the problem of having to cut the usb port out of the case with pliers/cnc machine, since it would be near to impossible to let CM change their injection mold.
Here is a picture of the Knops Mini PCB. They only support the Cherry MX footprint. The plate for the switches has 14x14mm square holes in them, if I remember correctly. I guess you could use this info to decide if it's worth modifying the switches yourself. It will be nearly impossible for me to add an option for an un-assembled kit.

PawnerdThanks for the answer, appreciate it.
My bad, the "whites" I was referring to are Cherry MX White ("soft-click"), a bit of a rare beast but I have some at hand :) I've been out of touch w/ the KB community over the last few years (live got in the way), what bootloader is in the mini ? Back in the days I rewrote the Teensy loader (1kb, didn't bother to squeeze it further) to use in my KB's...

GrendelThe bootloader is a modified version of LUFA DFU. I added a feature that puts the device in DFU modus whenever someone keeps down the third switch while plugging it in. 4kb in size. With 32kb total flash for a keyboard with 6 keys, I don't even mind squeezing it.

PawnerdMakes sense. I may just add a reed switch to the reset line if I can find the damn thing. I'm sure I have one or two spares somewhere... :) (The Costar replacement controllers work that way, very handy.) So far I like what I see, looking forward to it !
BTW, "modus" -- being German myself, that sounds familiar. :)

GrendelI am Dutch, but live close to the border haha. The reset line and ground are the two pins on the top outside of the device, so you can simply use a key or other metal thing to short them to put the device in DFU mode if you use your own bootloader.
In this image, the left pin in the red box is ground and the right one the Reset line.

PawnerdLiving in the US myself :-) Ok, thanks for the info. Looks like I'll have to make an adapter for the AVR ISP, should be easy.
Edit: just noticed the ship date. I would suggest to extent the buying window by another 14 days or so for maximum exposure.

GrendelYeah, I added a two months to the shipping date to be sure they will be shipped on time. Everything takes more time than expected :). Unfortunately it's not up to me to increase the timeframe of a drop. But who knows how this ends.
